For those who don't grease your scalp. Do your scalp get dry and flaky without anything on it?

I use parnevu oil

Parnevu grease

dax supergro oil

olive oil creme (for my ends)

And thinking about ordering some MTG :look:

No flakes or anything. My dresser suggested not to grease for two weeks as a test. Now i dont at all. She said some blacks stunt growth by having clogged scalps with all the extra oil.

Yes I use grease on my scalp every couple days with All Ways Indian Hemp grease. I love this stuff. :woot: It doesn't dry my hair out at all. I also do a hot oil treatment (concotion of EVOO & Peppermint oil) every Friday night.

I lightly oil my scalp. I use African Pride Miracle Gro (Rejuvenating Formula) or Jojoba Oil on hair and scalp. Both of these products work well for me. It took a lot of time to find the "right" oil for my hair. This works---I have extremely dry hair.

I grease my haie I know that I don't use alot of grease because I don't like my hair to be heavy, I know that a little grease get into my scalp because when I comb my hair back I feel it but it is not intentional. My scalp never drys or flake up I use a good evoo regimen.

Right now I am alternating between Lenzi's Requent and MTG (I'm using each for a month to compare growth results). When I first joined the board I stopped greasing, but I've found that grease agrees with my scalp. I do stay away from petroleum though and wash often to prevent build up.

I stopped using grease on my scalp this year after i stopped relaxing. The more flakes i had the more i would grease a vicious cycle. So now NOTHING goes on my scalp except water and condish/poo at wash time. However, i do use grease on my length. I am currently using dax's lanolin and gro-line's indian sage hair dressing.

Yes. I have choice but to or else my scalp gets really tender where I can barely touch it and my hair falls out like crazy and wont act right. I try to grease at least once a week and then oil if I need some extra sheen.

I used to have "dandruff" back when I was little, and my mom used to put grease on my scalp. It never seemed to help, no matter what kind it was. I never greased my scalp when I started doing my own hair, and my dandruff miraculously went away. I must have also had the "viscous cycle" foxy mentioned. The only time I ever notice anything flaking/built up on my scalp is when I've put something heavy on it. So I just don't bother. My scalp is better for it. I spray Hairever on it (water based) but that's it.

I oil my scalp with my MTG mixture but prior to purchasing the MTG, I didn't at all. SInce I'm not experiencing remarkable growth, I will probably discontinue using it and stop oiling my scalp all together.

My scalp doesn't like grease. Everytime I apply grease to my scalp it starts to itch like crazy. My hair is very dry so I use moisturizing oils on my hair.

No.
I wash my hair twice a week and then put leave in conditioner on my hair and avocado butter blended with camellina oil on the length of my hair. Nothing on my scalp and it's never itchy or flaky.

Another grease monkey here. My hair thrives off of grease. I usually use the B&B grow grease (or something like that) or the African Pride hair grease. I wash my hair once a week so there's no time for build-up. Not to mention, my scalp DRINKS grease so I doubt that there will ever be any anyway. I grease my scalp every other day and wash on Sunday's. My scalp loves me for it.

I will never quit grease bc:

1. when I have new growth and I just conditioned, it keeps my new growth softer.

2. A bit applied to my ends keeps it protected

3. After relaxing my scalp is dry and flaky if I don't apply it

4. Oils just disappear/evaporate into my scalp

5. I use a light formulation bc my hair is fine.

6. Once or twice a week is normally sufficient

Last week I found that "greasing" my scalp and new growth is key to being able to comb through my new growth and to avoid breakage.

The thing is I make my own "grease" with shea butter, coconut oil, and some other stuff whipped together (No petro-chemicals to clog the scalp). It works like a charm :D

Me and my hair love grease. My faves are: Allways Indian Hemp, Allways Super Gro, BB Super Gro and Sulfur 8. I usually apply to my scalp every other night. It helps with the manageability of my new growth, and helps with breakage.

I stopped greasing my scalp many years ago and my dandruff and "dry" scalp disappeared overnight.

I had TERRIBLE dry and itchy scalp for years and regular touch ups were torture because my scalp would stay so dry  . I used to put grease on my scalp and it never seems to work for me. My scalp would just soak it up and by dry again a day or two later.

Since I began taking better care of my hair, thanks to you ladies in LCHF, my dry scalp is gone  . I started taking GNC UltraMega Woman and UltraNourishair twice a day. I drink AT LEAST 8-10 glasses of water every day.

But, the thing that I think has really done the trick for me is 2TBSPs of flax seed oil every day. I started taking it to help lower my cholestrol but the other benefits are fantastic (Clearer skin and healthier scalp) :p

Nope! . . . not since 2 years ago when I discovered this site. I truly think it was clogging my hair follicles and keeping my hair from growing as well as I now see it can grow.

Yes I grease my scalp but not with hair grease I use Coconut oil. It's lighter to me.
