I'm looking for one that cleanses well but of course doesn't strip the hair, leaving it dry.

DON'T use Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle SHAMPOO! Stay far, far away. It might be sulfate free, but it will strip the daylights out of your hair.

I also like Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo which was very surprising,

great question OP. I'm glad you asked, because I was wondering, and did not want to post and then get yelled at for a repost. I looked and could not ascertain which poo was stripping or not because people were so stuck on the fact that it did not have sulfates.

I work in a drugstore and we sell the Giovanni Smooth as Silk so I think I'll pick that up. I have the Organix conditioner--I used it once, it was Ok, I'll try it with heat next time and I may pick up the 'poo to see how it works with the condish. Thanks ALL for the recs!

I don't have anything to recommend since I either water wash or cowash. But be careful with "natural" shampoos. They may not have sulfates but many of them have olefin sulfonate which is just as harsh as sulfates and can really strip your hair.

Hamadi's shampoos are fabulous
L'oreal Everpure
Chargrin Valley shampoos are okay, but it takes some getting used to.
I liked SheaMoisture shampoo on natural hair
Komaza Care Shea butter shampoo has a wonderful lather. It comes out watery at first, but lathers very much.

Giovanni Smooth as Silk shampoos are nice, but I like shampoo bars better. I really want to get one of those shikakai, amla, and bhringraj (don't know if I spelled that right), shampoo bar. Got to stop at the Bangladeshi store tomorrow .

Surprisingly Aubrey Organics Swimmer's shampoo is so much better than their 'moisturizing' shampoos. Don't get any of their other moisturizing shampoos cuz they will dry your hair out!

I also use Lush's shampoo bars, Trichomania Solid Shampoo (with cinnamon) and Godiva, with Trichomania being the most moisturizing cuz it has coconut something or another in it.

I've been real happy with Iden Botanical Shampoo & Conditioner. I like the way it leaves my hair, light scent, lots of good oils in it & no sulfates or sodium chloride.

Edited to add, jury is out for Iden. The last time I shampooed, my hair felt really gummy, I ended up doing a final shampoo with my old favorite standby (with sodium chloride) damage remedy. Very disappointing.

i reccommend L'oreal EverPure Sulfate- Free Color Care System Moisture Shampoo and their Smooth Conditioner. I've been using it since i got my sewn in and my front horseshoe and back nap have beeen great, they're not dry out at all and my sewn in looks the same as it did when i got it in the beginning of June.
