So I'm about 13 months post relaxer, but still holding onto my length, I'm about 90% ready to BC, but had been hesitating because I just had no clue what to do with my hair. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING out there seems to be defining any curl pattern in my hair.
But the other day, I thought back to a girl in high school with this gorgeous waist-length 3/c-4/a-ish hair. It always looked kinda wet, but never dry or frizzy. Her secret: water and grease. It was a well-known fact.
So on a whim, I decided to test a stray couple of strands with my husband's generic petrolatum/mineral oil-laden fake coconut grease and the result: perfect, shiny 4A spirals. Here all this time I thought my hair was just wavy! Now, I don't know about doing a whole-head application of this gunk, or the long-term effects, I just thought it was odd considering I have not seen even near similar results using puddings, gels, cream gels, or serums.
I have to wonder about all the hype of "petrolatum free!" and "No mineral oil!"
