The s/o mom is talking about her coworker how she has a good grade and the coworkers daughter has a bad grade, that's why she can't grow long hair. Geez, I have always hated hearing people talk like this.

I was always told I had a "good grade" of hair every time I went to the salon and they had to cut it all off.

The hair dresser would pick up a piece that was lying in my lap and say "you gotta good grade of hair"

and then I would walk out bald headed, I guess it was never that Good

I had a friend tell me some BS like that once. He was telling me that he was going to grow his hair long because he had a good grade of hair.

Thats why I never tell people I'm growing my hair because I've been told I have "bad hair".

My family talks like that. I HATE it. It goes along with who has "good light skin". One of my extended family members particularly plans of marrying wither a white or hispanic man just to have "light skinned babies with good hair". I'm not against falling in love with someone outside of your race. But to do it JUST because you hate yourself, just makes me sick. Seriously, I'm so glad for these boards coz I've actually seen pictures of people with all the different types of hair growing it long. Funny enough, now I hear my family telling me that my hair looks good

LOL...this old nonsense is actually funny. How do they explain people w/ locs, or people w/ BAAs? Most of them don't have the elusive "good hair", so what's the explanation?

Some people will cling to stupidity like a wino clutching his last bottle simply because it's most comfortable to them. It explains their failures and gives then reason to encourage failure in others. Laugh at it and roll on.

Me and my grandmother were watching TV and this woman with locs was on, they were really nice and neat, very long. My grandmothers reaction was a screw face and her saying she needs to take that mess out, its so nappy and it looks BAAAAAAAAAAD, yes sound that word out and that's how she said it, lol.. I was like why grandmama, b/c its kinky? She said look at it, just look at it. So I'm looking like those are some of the best locs I've ever seen. It was just a "bad grade of hair"

Really before I even found the boards, to hear people talk like this always made me feel some kind of way.

The s/o's mom was saying basically if your hair type is 4b, it won't or can't grow long. She does hair so I guess she "knows" I try not to get pulled into these conversations, lol
