Going Crazy!!Ready for Touchup!!

I am now 19 weeks post relaxer! However, it is not by choice. I simply have not had $70 in my budget to go to my stylist for a touchup. I have been wearing a wig for I do not know how long. Once every two weeks, I wash with Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo, condition with a combination of Porosity Control and Humecto (last time I did DRC-28 and then Humecto) under the dryer, leave-in Mango Butter, and braid in individual braids. I was putting MTG all over on my scalp, but I am now only putting it on my hairline where it is damaged. I spray a mixture of Surge and braid spray on my hair and scalp when needed. I do not know how much new growth I have, but I am so ready to relax. I want my hair back! How do you last? I hope to be able to go to my stylist next month. What is the longest you've gone between touchups?

Girl, I'm feeling your pain! I am in the same predicament as you, I would have been touched up a long time ago but I'm so damn broke...it's not even funny! I have all this NG and it's really getting out of control...but what I do to control it is continue with my deep treatments and do twistouts and braidouts when I'm out of individual braids. But for the most part I keep it in individual braids. I really want to get it touched up next month which is in a few days but knowing my budget I probably won't be able to get it done until December or even the new year. THe longest I've been with out a touch up has been 6 months (I'm texturized) good luck!

BTW, does the Elucence shampoo help with detangling?

I'm actually new to this site, and very delighted to see other sistahs taking care of their hair. Have you guys ever thought about doing a relaxer at home? It could save a few dollars. I'm actually in the midst of deciding if I should grow my perm out, i'm sooooo tired of it. But not sure if I want the headache of hair that has to be tamed!!!!!

Funny that you mention this, I was just feeling the same way today. My last touchout was Aug 6th and I want to touch up so bad. I'm trying to hold out until the first week of December. Right before I take my 2nd year Hair Anniversary pics.

Six months is the longest I've ever held out between touchups, but mostly I'm texturized anyway. Using a mild relaxer; it just helps to soften my wavies. That's the look and texture I'm going for anyway, not bone straight.

I'm currently washing or Conditioner washing Daily and it seems to help believe it or not. I air dry in a low braid then in the morning I add a little conditioner (motions moisture plus) to my hair then pull it up into a high ponytail then baggie and Drawstring ponytail for the day.

Good luck Stacy with finding a way to manage better.
I'd really like to hear from some ladies that has transitioned and managed the new growth.

The longest Ive gone without a touchup is 15 months. I pretty much did the baggie method and wore a wig. I also would put extensions in my hair every 2 months.

Carmella25, bowing down to 15 months w/o a relaxer!! Marseeya, I cannot imagine washing everyday. DRKCHOCOLATE, I used to do box relaxers ten years ago (Soft & Beautiful), but I do not want to go there anymore. I could never get it like the professionals. I hope to get a touchup my next paycheck on the 15th. Alli77, Elucence is da bomb (do people still say this?)!! It really conditions, softens, and detangles! Thanks for your responses, ladies! It really helps to have someone to commiserate (sp?) with. I feel like there's hope at the end of the tunnel (and hopefully the 5 inch mark on my progress in inches t-shirt!)!

I haven't relaxed since March.   I don't even know how many weeks post I am now. I am pregnant and wanted to wait until my second trimester to relax, but I plan on doing it myself and I just haven't found the time to do it right. Now I only have two more weeks left until my third trimester, and I DO NOT want to do it then (might burn or not take), so I guess I had better get it together!

The longest Ive been is 8 months and that was long enuff!!! co-signing with Marseeya, when I was 16 weeks post. I CWed every day, and used this frizz-ease by Fantasia and it kept my newgrowth in place!!
