Oh my goodness, y'all shoulda seen it! I would have taken a picture, but I was too ashamed. Suffice it to say, I glanced at my reflection while I was in Marshall's (where I got a PHI ionic flat iron for $25!), and was like, Ma, why you ain't tell me how I was lookin?!?!

Terrible. This is what happened: I did a very cute twist-out, with it pinned back on both sides... BUT, I used my homemade leave-in to do it. Bad idea. It's been in the 90's all week and mad humid (snarky thanks to Hurricane Bill), so the glycerin sucked up all the moisture in the air.

By the end of the day, I had an (unintentional) afro. :nono:

Now, don't get me wrong, if my hair did that on the regular, and I was prepared for it, I would be very pleased, cuz it's normally very tired looking, like fatigued:lachen:, so any texture or poufy-ness is welcome... but I need to know about it in advance.

So, ladies, moral of the story, taken from the pages of my hair journal: "Avoid products with glycerin on humid days."

Lol, what is ur homemade concoction?

I use glycerin products on humid days because I like for them to keep my hair juicy, lol. But I use Oyin and KBB stuff and it works out pretty well.

I have this same issue using glycerin when its humid outside for a twist or braid out. Now if I know its goibg to be humid I use PM The Conditioner.

Lol, what is ur homemade concoction?
An infusion of rose petals and burdock (the water part of the recipe), aloe vera gel, neem oil, sunflower oil, glycerin, vit E oil (preservative), lecithin (an emulsifier, to make the oil and water mix properly), and grapefruit and lavender essential oils (to cover up the neem). This was just stuff I had in the house already, but when I make it again, I'll probably replace the sunflower oil with coconut, and use less neem (cuz it stinks).

@sonye93, YES, girl, this weather is really messing up my life right now. Did you hear, after that storm, what was it, 3 days ago, there were trees knocked down, the thunder sounded like they was dropping bombs... out of control.

Oh yeah, and it messed up my hair. smh

Yes I heard, infact like a few blocks away from me a tree was knocked down onto someone's car. I'm guessing it was an old car. I really didn't know it was that bad, but then again I was inside the whole time.

LOL sorry about your hair

I'm really hating any product with glycerine right about now! I cant even use a DC with glycerin when its humid outside...my hair is a frizzy dry mess by the end of the day! I totally understand

PM = Paul Mitchell the Conditioner. It's a thick leave- in conditioner. It works very well for my wash-n-gos.
