Glamtwinz Straight in Winter Curly in Summer

I actually tried this beginning october of last year but I stopped and went cg late April of this year. I used the blow dryer a few times since going cg but I have stopped using heat tools indefinitely. But here are my experiences w/ it:
I would blow dry and flat iron every two weeks.
Pros(for me):
-It was a great way to learn and practice the best technique to flat iron my texture
-the results got better each try

Cons(for me):
-Even w/ heat protectant I still got a looser pattern in the front. Its gotten better with protein treatments but any more hardcore(flatiron+blowdryer) heat could have resulted in straight pieces.
-It was extremely time consuming for me. I have coily hair that's not that used to heat so it would take me hours to wash, detangle, blow dry and flat iron in small sections.
-I had issues finding the best way to keep my hair moisturized the whole two weeks

Everyone's bound to get different results but my hair just didn't respond well to using heat that frequently.

alove15 did you retain length with this method? How long were your straight/curly periods?

I trimmed more w/ straight hair so I retained less. Now I usually just dust the ends of my twists every few months and occasionally trim ssk's as I see them. Coily hair is more forgiving + my ends aren't getting as much wear and tear. My straight period was from the end of October '11-April '12. Before that I had only flat ironed a few times a year.

I think I will just blow dry every two to three weeks until March, and if that works out fine, then next winter I will try flat ironing.

as someone that works out daily, straight hair is not practical as a natural :(

I was looking for this post. I workout 5 days per week. Straight hair will not stand a chance with me. Stretched hair on the other hand is working out pretty well for me.

That's what I'm going to do, and I'll flat iron my roots. If I wrap it, it will be straight enough lol!
