Hi Ladies,
I flat iron my hair whenever I do a wash/cowash/ DC but, I use the Chi thermal protectant (spray). My hair just looks healthier when it's flatironed. I guess it's (protectant spray) working fine but, there are a couple things I'd like some opinions on.

1. How would I know if the protectant isn't protecting my hair?

2. To keep from flatironing I pull it back in a ponytail and I like for my edges to be nice and smooth. I currently use Jam/ Shine but it's so greasy. Can anyone suggest something I can used to make my ponytail look smooth without the greasiness? :nono:

3. How do you guys do the ACV rinse (mixing)? I put a teaspoon in 6oz. of water- not sure how that's done?

4. For a daily moisturizer I use Hairveda Ends Hydration, Olive Oil (Organics), Profectiv Renew (makes it nice a soft), and when I remember I seal with Profectiv's hair oil (does great), or whatever I can find. What have you guys tried for moisture that works?

I don't use heat/ACV rinses or profectiv products... :grin::grin:

but Aloe Vera gel is good for layin down hair and its good for your hair...

1.If your hair starts to look heat damaged/rough and the ends begin to look bad I would say your spray isn't doing a good job.You could always also apply a heat protecting serum.

2.elasta qp mango butter

How often do you wash/co wash? That sounds like a lot of heat you're using. Even with the best heat protectant and flat iron, I'd imagine you'd still get damage with consistant heat usage. Have you tried rollersets or any other healthier styles like bantu knots or flexi rod sets?

1) When your hair is damaged, you'll know. Frizzy, dry ends, dry hair, split ends, etc.

2) A lot of people love Hairveda Whipped Jelly for their edges

3) IDK much about ACV rinses, so I can't help you there

4) Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 Miracle Worker!!! :yay:

1. your ends will let you know...but to be safe i would cut down on the heat. i don't think it's necessarily that your hair looks "healthier"...maybe it just looks more "polished". you can get that same look from rollersets, which don't require direct heat and thus are better in many respects.

2. aloe vera gel, fantasia IC gel...apply anything to your hair and tie it down with a scarf till smooth (approx 15-20 mins).

3) i use about a tbsp in a cup of water -- different ppl use different dilations. if yours works for you don't change it.

4. BB oil moisturizer (oldie but goodie)...a good leave-in applied after washing/conditioning will keep me from having to moisturize for 2-3 days. and yes, hawaiian silky is great!

Hi Tiffers,
I flatiron like once a week and if I wash more than once I wear a pony. I know once a week is much but, I have no good luck with rollersets. I've tried braid-outs and the first time it turned out good and downhill since. I don't know what bantu knots are and don't have flexirods (not sure what they are).

I have the 14 in 1 and it's nice on my hair also but it seems like it does a better job when the hair is flatironed. Thanks for responding.

1. How would I know if the protectant isn't protecting my hair?
----Your hair wouldn't be smooth, and you would get prickly strands. At least that's what my hair does.

2. ----I suggest tying a tight scarf around your edges to get them to lay down smoothly, and take it off when you are ready to leave the house.

4. Oils-- I try to stay away from commercial "oils" and always look at the ingredients. Try to use things with strictly oils in it. Hot Six Oil by African Royale always does well with my hair. I also use extra virgin olive oil, you can get that in the grocery store.

3. How do you guys do the ACV rinse (mixing)?

I put about 1 1/2 tablespoons in an 8 oz. cup of water & stir it.
