Frustrated over my overprocessed ends

Ok so I have been baggying for about 3 weeks now both the full head and the ponytail only and still I'm seeing breakage. I'm starting to think that its the baggying that's causing the problem. Today even though I did a full head baggie last night, when I woke up today my hair was moist, but my ends were dry as the Sahara. So I decided to wear my hair in a banana clip and just let the ends out since they were kind of curly from the braids I had put in last night. Well I noticed that I had no breakage all day....but the ends were just so darn crunchy. I then thought that I would baggie the ponytail to try and get some moisture back into it. Big mistake, as soon as I started putting the moisturizer on it, I got not only tons of shedding, but hella breakage:eek: .
What gives?!!? I'm so frustrated right now, it seems like everything I try just makes things worse. So now I don't know if I need protein, moisture or a trim even though I just trimmed about 1/2 inch when I last relaxed 3 weeks ago:ohwell: . HELP!!! I feel like this hair thing comes so naturally for some people, but I am just not one of them.

Thanks for the advice ladies, I looked over my products yesterday and saw that I was using a lot of cone products, especially on my ends. I'm going to cut that out and see how things progress from there.
