This haircare journey has been an interesting one for me, I never thought I could live without my black gel, relaxers, and spritz!

I found LHCF in 2008 and decided to go natural the very next day. I had to grow to love my texture, I didn't have soft ringlet curls like my father or a shiny butter soft mane like my mother. While transitioning my grandmother always mentioned that "I needed to take better care of myself" (aka. "why would you walk out the house without your hair "not done")..

But to make a long story short, I ignored the urge to return to the crack, ignored the negative comments, and continued to learn to love my hair. And in return it loved me back. :yep:

Now on to the pictures.... 2008-PRESENT

Your hair is gorgeous, both straight and curly!!!! Thanks for giving me hope that I can make it to WL without being a PS junkie!

The product junkie syndrome was hard for me to break at first. Every time I entered a store, I had to leave with at least one hair product. Walmart, Target, BigLots, it didn't matter where. I would buy in bulk knowing I would never use it all (a case of 50 V05 moisture milks when I knew i still had a dozen bottles at home), I had it BAD!

One day I was packing up to move and noticed all the unopened/barely used/just sitting collecting dust bottles/products underneath my vanity. It was definitely a wake up call..I'd waste so much money on products that didn't even make it close to being a part of my rotation. So I promised myself I would leave my junkie days behind..I had a few relapses in the beginning , but now I'm on the straight and narrow :)

Let me tell you guys something....

I NEVER had long hair..not as a baby..not in highschool. Ever.
When I was younger and natural my hair was really thick, but the longest i can ever remember it being was hovering around my shoulders..I never thought I could grow my hair to this capacity, I'm still trying to get use to it.

When I first reached APL I was ECSTATIC! I never thought I would get past my SL hump..I inched my way towards BSL and got there with loads of protective styling and low manipulation. But after reaching that goal I wanted to stop hiding my hair and enjoy it more. So I started wearing it out close to every day. And haven't suffered any negative ramifications yet! I'm still cautious with my ends, and try to make sure they're not rubbing against anything (pillows, carseats, sweaters, etc.) but I haven't had a problem with breakage or retention. I may throw it in a ponytail or cute updo, but no more crown & glory or librarian buns for me, I want to feel my mane blow in the breeze! :)

Where ever you are in your journey, don't give up on your goal. I know this line is cliche, but if I can do it, ANYONE can! Happy Hair growing, Ladies!

Your hair is beautiful. I love the pony pic.

Do you remember what products and techniques got you to BSL?

Thank you:grin:
From APL to BSL I was a lover of the Neutrogena Triple Moisture line, Chi Silk Infusion, banana clips, lacio lacio, silicon mix and my Sedu...I washed my hair every week, steamed in my deep conditioner for about an hour, then flat ironed it. I did this for a year, some weeks taking a break from heat but mostly wearing it straight. and lots of protective styling...

Truly inspirational!!! I love it and congrats on your journey. Both you and your hair are gorgeous. Aw man I can't wait for my day!!!

wow very inspiring!! yur hair is gorgeous!!! lovee the huge difference in the ponytail shots(:

did yu use banana clips for the transitioning pics.?

Beautiful hair and you are very pretty!

OMG please show us how you did that Hello Kitty bow, that is TOO cute!

ETA: What does your grandma think of your hair now?

Absolutely Fabulous!!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us. After many setbacks I seem to be at the same length I was when I started (between APL and BSL) :nono:, but I am soooo encouraged by your journey!

Congratulations!!! :yay::yay::yay:

Great Progress! I think someone already said it, but it looks like you're grazing Hip length right now, so you should be Full HL in no time!! Get it girl!
