Go see your doc and rule out anything internal.

Don't cut your hair!

I found this while doing a search on damaged hair treatments. Again, hope this helps.

The best we've seen for damaged hair click here(this is a link to Dumb Blonde reconstructor)

Real Solutions for Damaged Hair
The following is written on the understanding you have already damaged your hair and need help to repair the damage.
Here are some real solutions that may take a little time. Please note also that damaged hair IS NOT necessarily dry hair. Dry hair (see) is a completely different topic. The tips below will only strengthen the hair.
1) Use Nexxus Emergencee once a day for a week, then drop off to once a week. Follow each Emergencee treatment with a good moisturizer.
2) Go to a salon that offers the L'anza Ultimate Treatment.
3) Start taking a good hair supplement (this will take time, as hair grows on average 1/2" per month)
4) Mix a "cocktail" of 1oz. Nexxus Humectress, 1oz. Nexxus Epitome, 1oz. Nexxus KerapHix, 1 teaspoon vegatable oil. Shake well, apply (the size of a quarter ) to clean towel dried hair, leave on for 10 minutes, rinse.
5) Another good "cocktail" is 1oz. Paul Mitchell Super Charged Conditioner, 1oz. Paul Mitchell Hair Repair, 1oz. L'anza Reconstructor. Mix well, apply the size of quarter to clean damp hair, leave on 10 minutes, rinse.

prettydimples01 has a vid on youtube about using a beer rinse to help her hair revert after straightening -- try that and maybe an ACV rinse, or a DC with some porosity control to help with the knotting issues

Please provide us with a bit more information Brockstar. I'd love to help, but can't really do so without knowing what you did following up the blowout. How did you wear your hair? did you go without combing your hair for a while? What shampoos / conditioners, treatments have you used since then? your hair is gorgeous! I wouldn't want you to cut it all off! I'm a 3c / 4a like yourself and I notice I get dreds / locks or tangles after I've used products with a good amount of protein. My hair is protein sensitive...

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

UPDATE: I clarified last night and mixed cholesterol and the ORS repleneshing pack. My hair actually looks much much curlier so it's aa start. Here's the ugly part..once again a BUNCH of hair came out.

More info for those who requested it.

My hair is super super strong and always has been which is why this is so concerning to me. My regimen in simple. I usually wash and go every 3 days. In between I just wet my hair and add a little condish and some type of curly product. My hair has never been picky. Nothing at all has ever gone wrong until I got it straightened this time. I've had it straightened before, but it usually reverts soon after. I only had a heat damage scare once before and it was fixed soon after through TLC. No hair fell out then. This time that didn't happen. I went to a dominican salon and they did a blowout. They didn't use a flat iron at all. She rollerset, then blew it straight with a blowdryer. My hair was super silky and pretty. When it was time to wash, I noticed a lot of hair coming out. I did the usual: Shampoo, Deep Condition, and condition after. My hair has been faling out ever since. This is why I am confused and don't think it's anything medical because this has never happened until I got it straightend. Do ya'll think my scalp could possibly be burnt? Sometimes it feels tingly. HTH for those who wanted more info.

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

This sounds familiar. When I was getting my hair done by the dominicans weekly my hair started thinning. I think the amount of heat they use can be really damaging to your scalp.

I imagine after nursing it like you have it will get better.

Good luck, I'm sure things will get better.

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

When my hair fell out after going to the Egyptians(Chicago) it was from the blow dryer. The Egyptian use a very, very hot blow dryer technique to straighten the hair and this is too much for me. Back in 1998, there were no hair blogs to help you, so I started over with braids. I wore them for 6 months until my hair got healthier. I would never, ever go to the Dominicans to get my hair straighten because my hair doesn't take heat very well. Brockstar you shouldn't cut, just wear protective hairstyles for a while and check out what Miss Norway is doing. She posted a few months back about her hair falling out, after going to get it done at the Dominican shop. A lesson learned- some of us here can take heat while other have to be careful.

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

I am so sorry this happened to you. If they used a really hot dryer and pulled your hair really tight with a round bristle brush to blow dry, you may have a bit of scalp burn and root damage. Have you tried spraying your scalp with a bit of aloe vera juice to ease the pain and strengthen the roots? Basic Fruit of the Earth works well for me and is quite inexpensive. Please be careful of the flavored version that has sucrose in it. That sugar will irriate your scalp even more. I don't use gel only the actual liquid juice. Best wishes to you!

If you're going to do something to soothe your scalp, I say avoid anything acidic (aloe vera) and use lavender EO either in a carrier oil or some in a spray bottle w/ water. 20 drops to an oz is a good amount.

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

When I had a scare after a blowout -- my curls wouldn't come back after my hair was wet (or even washed with my normal conditioner), and it just felt weak -- I ran to this board and quickly found some threads on what to do (thank god).

I clarified with an ACV rinse and then did a treatment with my Nexxus Emergencee. After this it still took 1-2 weeks for my curls to come back. I just continued to co-wash as often as I could and used EVCO daily to try to penetrate my strands.

However, I'm not sure about the hair coming out like that - I didn't experience that, so I'm not sure if its just your hair's reaction to way too much heat or something internal as other ladies have said.

But I do know that if it is, in fact, heat damage, it may take a least a few weeks for things to gradually get better.

About a month after that scare I did my BC and made a promise to never do that much heat again. (I had a blow-dry with the round brush and a flat-iron)

Good Luck, and I wouldn't rule out speaking with a doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Aloe Vera has long been used to soothe skin irritations, strengthen hair, and as a treatment for a host of other conditions. Lavendar is would work also. Safflower or even plain old EVOO would be a good carriers. Actually, I found an interesting recipe that uses both Aloe and Lavendar.

Re: From Natural Hair Diva to Severe Advice Seeking Crazy Woman. HELP!I want 2 cut it

I'm sorry you're going through this, your hair is so beautiful :hug3:

I haven't read through most of the replies, so IDK if it's already been suggested. Please go to the doc and get your iron and thyroid levels checked, just be sure. The tangled, matted hair and hairloss sound like what I'm experiencing. If it is your thyroid or iron, you can hurry up and remedy the problem before it gets out of hand. Good luck!

Brockstar I went thru something similar after straightening.

I hope you have been able to stop some of the hair loss. Have you had any progress?
