Im not really talking about responding in general. I understand folks are busy and yada yada. Im talking about those who NEVER respond to me but are clearly responding to other people in that same day. To put it plainly.

Like, I'll go back to see what the answer was and there will be nothing. But then the comment RIGHT after mind says something like "You on the grow for sho'!" or something like that and the fotki owner replies with all kinds of stuff.


Just wondering.

I tend to look at journals of people with fly avatars. I tend to revisit those with hair similar to mine in texture, not coilyness. Meaning, if your hair is fine whether it's curly, kinky or straight, I look at your fotki more often. I tend not to look at relaxed journals unless they have had or have long hair. And I don't peruse journals of people who wear weaves and wigs extensively or those who only go to stylists to do hair.

The reason for all of the above is because I go to hair journals to see progress, find hairstyles and upgrade my hair routine. I never just go to just look.

I only check fotkis of relaxed ladies...When i did the big chop last year, I only checked out fotkis of naturals; now I'm back to checking out relaxed,lol...Why would I be interested in someone's hair regimen when there hair is so different from mine?

Here's my sensitve issue. It may be rational. It may be irrational.

I've noticed that sometimes, maybe more than I like to think, I only seem to get any play from fotkis with a hair type similar to mine.
I don't really get any replies or answers or anything from fotkis who's hair type I don't share.

I used to think well maybe that person is busy and they don't respond to no one. BUT NO! You can see that they correspond and answer questions and leave replies all the live long day but "skip" over mine.

So here's the question:


Do you naturally pay more "attention" to visitors that share your hair type?
Do you ever feel like your wanted advice is not "needed" for someone who doesn't share your hair type so why bother?

To be honest, I visit and pay attention to those women with natural 4a hair and relaxed 4a/4b long hair women, because I want to see what my hair would look like being to my waist....and if I decide to go natural, I know what natural 4a looks like and how to take care of it.......but I look at everyone's fotki whether short, afros, etc, but I tend to admire long hair women like Lala, FlowerHair, Chicoro, Cichelle, Meme1978, EmpressRi, Lucia3k, quietone2, Pokahontas, etc because they motiavate me to grow my hair to my waist and beyond if I chose.....LaLa is my hair idol because she's relaxed, 4a, waist length hair and she's giving me a heads up on what I can look forward to...I hope this answered you question, and if it didn't, Sorry.....

I look at all kinds of Fotkis cuz I love hair, but I am more drawn to those of people who may have a similar hair type or we have the same interests (PJ's unite!!). There are others I go to quite a bit because they're just simply some of my favorite people in general. If you ask a question and someone doesn't answer, go on to the next. Don't take it too personally. There are plenty other albums to view and enjoy.

it wouldn't matter to me if a person's hair type was different to mine and they asked me a question, that happens all the time and I try to respond to everyone because i think it's rude to not respond to questions on hair.

A person's hair type has no influence on whether I answer a person's question or respond to a person's comment on my fotki. I go through times where I am very good at responding and other times when I don't keep up due to various things going on with me and life and etc. Ideally, I like to respond to everyone because I deeply appreciate when people take the time to look at my fotki and comment/ask questions. It has nothing to do with them or their hair type when I don't.

I enjoy looking at Fotkis but I am more likely to ask a question if the hair looks similar. Interesting observation.

I've observed this too but i realise i get views comments & questions from all hair types. I would love to have more views and comments but i don't sweat it. Usually i would stalk fotkis with a similar hair type as mine wether relaxed or natural, but lately i find that i'm embracing all textures, straight, curly, nappy(like mine) whatever it may be. I find that i can learn for anyone no matter how small it may be and that when i read repeated information it usually stays with me (kinda like studying ehhh!)

Another thing i find is that i love the fotkis that have had excellent progress from short to really long or fotkis that have a similar hair goal as mine or who once had the goal and has now achieved it.

i'm bad at answering questions since i don't check mine often, but it has nothing to do with hair type. now i really don't look at fotki albums that have relaxed heads, since we don't have very much in common when it comes to hair.

I'm horrible at leaving comments. It's not so much that I don't want to but I feel stupid being the 33rd person to say "pretty". KWIM?

If the person whose album it is doesn't get that it's pretty by, I don't know...the 21st person then is me at 33 really gonna make a difference.

OKAY!!! I thought I was the only one who thought that, apparently not. man but you do feel a bit corny saying awww your hair so purdy!! However sometimes i can't resist it cause I like to compliment folks especially where its due, just my nature.

I used to be really good about leaving responses to all questions but I've slacked.
And I must admit, when I'm fotki surfing, I try to stick to looking at heads that are closest to my type & texture. But beautiful hair is beautiful hair and I do also leave comments when I see some fierce relaxed long hair.

And I also have a few specific fotki friends who I've actually developed some bonds with and we'll be ride or die no matter what.

I am careful when giving advice to those with a different texture than mine. Some things are universal and some aspects are just different for and cannot be related in the same way.

I love checking out fotki's I've learned a lot from looking and asking questions.

I try to answer all questions. If I miss any its more due to my little ones running around.

I look at a lot of naturals but I have to admit it's not easy to pick some of them out because they have a press that is just that good. i'm in awe. I look at more fotkis that have hair like mine but i also like to look at pretty hair and hair that has seen a lot of growth.

I have had this happen to me too...

I would say two things: (1) if you are asking a specific question, and its not being answered - that's just RUDE! (I hope I wasn't one of the people to ignore you! YIKeS!!), but if you are just commenting because something looks good to you, I wouldn't be concerned that you didn't hear anything back (they probably smiled at your comment, but didn't necessarily have something to respond to). (2) I am guilty of spending more time focusing on those who have similar hair textures (though I look at Err'body and they momma's fotkis!), just because its more of a reciprical relationship. They stopped by my album looking for tips, and I stop by theirs for the same reason. There is no crime in that, now is there?

I respond to everybody. I get a lot of transitioners (who may not even know their type yet) and a lot of people relaxed or natural interested in wigs and weaves. I try to respond to everyone. However, most of the time when I am looking at fotkis I look at naturals who have a texture similar to mine but with longer hair. There are a few relaxed heads fotkis that I visit by mainly because I've been following their journey or we've been growing together since we are about the same length now.

I have friends with different hair types on fotki. However, I noticed that a lot of the ladies have longer hair. Not that I discriminate though, I stalk fotki of shorter hair too-just love to see healthy hair. I have always been a long hair freak though.

You know what I noticed? I get quite a few naturals that check out my fotki, more so than relaxed heads. Maybe that's because a lot of people are natural or transitioning. I love it though because a lot of the key things I've learned about caring for my hair came from naturals, and I always reply back and comment on how lovely their hair is.
