Forgetting to enjoy your hair in ALL of it's growing stages...?

I'm actually surprised: I am enjoying my current length. All our lives we've been taught that you have to relax your hair to make it more manageable, and now thatI know the truth about our natural hair, I know you don't have to relax it - it's optional. I'm doing so many different things with my hair and appreciating the different textures in it that I don't even have time to think about whether it is closer to my length goal:D

Amen, sister! Great post.

I have always liked my hair at whatever length it was. Since joining LHCF, I have had to remind myself not to get so bent on reaching the next growth goal that I don't enjoy the great variety of styles I can wear right now. And while it is great to get inspiration and tips from the beautiful ladies with long locks here, I have to stay positive about where I am.

I wear my hair down at least half the time because I don't think wearing buns or phony ponies is flattering to my round face (and ample head ). I do like to wear french rolls, so I do that 2-3 days a week so that I can tuck away the ends. But I feel personally, why wear it protected 95% of the time and not enjoy it. However, I have started feeling a little funny when I have had it up for several days and I wear it down. I almost want to put it back up. I guess it is becoming habit.

Remember we protect what we care about, but we can't live in fear and not enjoy those people and things that we have been blessed with.

I know I am late on this post but I just have to say this is a great thread. I have been thinking a lot lately about how much I have taken for granted on my journey to waist length. Somewhere along the way reaching my goal became the main objective rather than enjoying my hair.

That is where I have pretty much been most of this year. So I am trying to make it a goal now to try a few different styles now and then and appreciate where I'm at now. I think it'll help with the impatience I get just wearing it the same way all of the time and looking in the mirror every other day like "is it growing yet...?.....is it growing yet.....?" LOL

Thanks and you are 100% right. However, human behavior frequently leads us to think in relative terms. When you come on a site like this and see all these beautiful heads of hair and your own hair is not where you want it to be, you kind of beat yourself up. Either way, we need to be appreciative and I'm greatful for my strands........thin as they might be.

Yes I'm guilty of this. Now that I think about it, my hair is very healthy and well conditioned . I know that I will eventually reach my goals soon...
