Sometimes I think back to when I had a TWA and I kinda miss the ease of being able to "wash n go" in just a few short minutes. And once when I had my hair blunt cut and relaxed/straight just above my shoulders, I miss how that particular style seemed to really frame my face the best.

Are you guilty of 'not appreciating' your hair just because you're not at your goal length? Do you spend more time complaining about it not being where you want it, rather than being thankful that you (1) have hair, and (2) have found the means (LHCF) to get it to where you want it to be?

If so, I urge you to just take a moment, stop, and be thankful for how far you've come/how far you 'expect' to go in the future. Maybe you did like me and wore your hair up in a lil old bun 95% of this year LOL. Take a day to just let your hair loose and enjoy it in all of it's glory :D Who knows, one day when you get to APL, or BSL, or WL, believe it or not there may be things you miss about your hair now, or the length it's at. So try to enjoy your hair as you approach each hair goal you have. It'll make reaching the next goal seem all that easier ;)

Happy Hair Growing! :)

I'm like this approach. Sometimes I tend to spend to much time trying to keep it protected.

Me too. In a few weeks I have a meetup with some of my old friend girls from high school and I wanted to look pretty but I was too afraid to wear my hair down. 1. I hate seeing my hait not at it's desired length and 2. I was too afriad.

After reading this thread (i couldn't have came at a better time) what the hell I might do a rollerset and flat iron the roots.:D

Thanks for this post. It's important to keep things in perspective. I'm guilty of it too.

Last week I was looking at some very old photographs of my great grandmother and her sisters with their lovely, beyond classic length, wavy hair, and the hair anorexia hit me hard.

I'm going out with DH for dinner and a concert on Saturday and I was planning to just wear my regular bun, but now I think I'll wear it down with a few little braids scattered throughout.

Yes, the growing out stages can be depressing. So, I went out and purchased lots of hair accessories to help me though this.

I just got on a hair accessory kick too! I am trying to find fun styles that aren't damaging. So far, I bought a hairagami, some colorful claw clips, and one of those Nicole Ritchie headbands with the satin :)

such a nice post.. there are definitely some things i miss already.. not as easy to comb or style, hand hurts more now.. but its a welcome pain :)

I took advantage of growing out my tapered cropped cut to try out various shapes, lengths, and styles along the way. Definitely take advantage of it! It will make the growing out process less painful ;)

Very good post.
I think since I've joined the boards I've stopped liking my hair in general because I don't think it looks as good as everyone elses. I should just appreciate what I have and hope that I reach my goals.

Thanks for posting this. I just posted in the discouraged thread. I had my hair down on saturday, and it's getting really close to BSL in the back (of course, I have some scraggly ends b/c of not trimming  ). And it's APL (or very close in the front).

My hair didn't grow as fast as I wanted, and sometimes I still think it's taking a long time, but I agree with you. Be content where you are right now!

Good point!! I am about to get on the "accessories bandwagon" myself to try to switch things up a bit :)

It’s funny you would post this, I was just admiring the simple times when my hair was ½ long and I was sporting a pixie cut. I loved how fun and free it was.

This is a good post. I am so paranoid about wearing my hair out :look:. I feel like I am going to mess up my progress. But I guess letting my hair flow every once in awhile should be okay.:) I think....:look:

Thanks you. You are so right, and I needed to hear that today ;)

This thread came right on time for me. My hair is not at the length that I want it to be so I keep it bunned, but I should be thankful for the hair that I have and start doing more things with it then just bunning it 100% of the time.

I always try to enjoy my hair now thats Ive reached most of my goals. I do wear buns most of the time, but Im more likely to flat iron it and wear it down for special occasions (I used to wear it up ALL the time). When I do flat-iron Ill enjoy it and swing for 2-3 days and then its back to my bun. I do enjoy it when I get the urge!

ITA! Which is why I would invite any of you all to jump on the being grateful challenge. It's definitely forced me to stop whining about what I don't have and to become grateful for what I do have.

Thanks.

Candice

Glad to read something positive today....

I read this thread earlier this morning and had to reflect on it.

I have become so obsessed with growing my hair that I have lost touch with how great it is right now. My hair is not short but compared to my hair idols on this board, you'd think I had a TWA by my attitude to my hair most days. :perplexed

Will try different styles and accessories to show my hair off in all its glory.:look:

How often do you wear your hair down?

I love this thread...thanks. this should be a stickey so that we can always remember to love and enjoy our hair where we are right now and look foward to the future. Sometimes it it hard not to dwell so much on how we want our hair to look 1-2 years from now but we should enjoy our hair as it goes through the different stages of growth...:)

I still only wear my hair down maybe 3-4 times a year, usually for Thanksgiving, Christmas, my birthday and when I go on vacation in the summer. This year I actually have worn it down 3 times, but all 3 times have been since September, so I waited pretty late in the year this year.

Great thread and advice, thank you!

I loved and appreciated my hair at all of the stages of my journey. My goal was always for healthy hair, at any length. I enjoyed wearing my updos and buns every day for almost a year. I learned to dress them up and wear them so I looked good I'm grateful for even learning how to create a bun or an updo.

ITA that it's important to be grateful for our hair at any and all stages of our hair journey.

That's exactly how I feel.

I have felt more comfortable with my hair since reaching APL, but I felt so much anxiety from SL to then ...and still do now occasionally as I reach for brastrap. All I can think about is "i want more thickness!" when I should just be happy where I am, enjoying this moment, knowing more will come in time and patience.

Great thread.
