Well you guys, I had been transitioning for 4 months and planned to transition for a year..Feb would have made a year....2 1/2 weeks ago, I got a sew in and it hurt like hell, and everybody kept telling me.."Oh you gon be ok, it hurts a lil anyway" and I was telling everyone that this was a different type of hurt, it almost burns...But anyway to make a long story short, I had been scared every since about the pain I had and I finally took my sew in out last night..and OH MY!!! I have 3 bigger then quarter sized bald spots in my head...I mean they are bald..So I cut my past shoulder length hair off to almost an inch all around except for the bald spots.. I am so depressed and I don't know what to do...CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THESE SPOTS BACK GROWING.

OMG, Big Hugs to you I am so sorry this happened to you. Some of the experts will probably come in with some good advice for you. Maybe try castrol oil it is supposed to help thicken up spots.

I am so sorry that this happen to you, bless ur heart!! I had a bad experience with a sew-in before so I know your pain. Your hair will grow back in fuller and thicker. Do you use any growth aids? How is your scalp feeling is it still sore or burning? You still are very pretty with your BC stay encouraged.

Oh my I am soo sorry this happenned to you. Make sure you take your vitamins and drink lots of water and it will grow back in and be super healthy too.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry that happened - that's scary! Do you have any growth aids at home? I'd definitely start massaging those areas daily, even if you are using nothing but a light oil/leave-in to massage with - that's so scary!

You poor thing. I'm soo sorry! I got a bald spot right in the front of my hair a few years back. I honestly didn't do anything special except be very careful and gentle with the area until it grew back (I wore wigs during that time with a gel filled headband underneath to protect my hairline). I have heard some good reviews of de louise's ayurveda growth elixir, BT and of course scalp massages. Even with the spots, you have a cute TWA, just wait till they start filling in! Good luck!

I HATE Sew ins!

I had something similar happen to me.
I only left mine in for 2 days. (This was back in 97)

When I took it down ( due to that similar burning sensation) I had one small bald patch and an area where the string cut through my hair like a razor

I didn't do anything special to get it to grow back. It just takes time and patience. But it will come back.

Maybe you can try some Boundless Tresses.

I am so so sorry this happenend to you, But if you baby that area and cowash and deep condition it will come back this happen to me before one reason why I stopped getting weaves, I used Neosporin it hurt that bad, until the pain went away and then I really went out of my way to baby that area of course I had wigs and hide that from public eyes. Now its just a memory and a lesson learned when its hurting you - don't put up with it for a moment. Listen I told the stylist it was hurting she gave me some tylenol - I thought that was the norm but the pain was really bad - the neosporin did not damage my hair and I only used it until the pain went away good luck and there are so many wonderful people on here that will have really good advice for you.

I agree you look beautiful with short hair. And I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I think you may want to try a growth aid. I know many people don't believe in it, but maybe try MT or OCT. I haven't tried either, but look at the thread and look at the pics, research the info and make a decision based on all of the info. (It's a long thread, but worth the read I think.)

one of my friend's had a similar problem earlier this year. She felt the same kind of pain you're describing and when she took out her sew-in she had one large bald spot that was badly scarred at the center of her head. She has been using JASON shampoo and conditioners(aloe). And gently massaging the area as the skin is very tight. It has made tremendous progress. My roommate took before and after pictures, if I can find them I'll put them in my fotki and send you the pw to the pics. At the moment she's wearing wigs,her damage was really bad-her derm told her it wouldn't grow back-he was wrong. Your hair will grow back,luckily in the mean time you are beautiful and your eyebrows are fierce.

Oh I'm so sorry this happened to you! I had bald spots at my crown due to a lack of moisture while my hair was in braids before starting my hair journey. I would baby the area by moisturizing DCs, massaging daily, and applying a good moisturizer, a growth aide like MN, BT, or MT and sealing with evoo .This has helped me and the area has grown so well now.
I also have very small bald spots at my temple area and have been fighting with the area for almost a year- I have noticed that MT and evoo have helped the area a lot.

Don't stay too down. Your hair looks so healthy and I know that you will recover from this very soon, sweetie!

ETA: I'll bump my friend's hair progress thread for you- She had the same baldness pattern as yours. I'll be updating her pics within a month but at least you'll see how the area improved in only 5 months.

i too had a bad sew-in experience...i did not have bald spots but i went from SL to ear length as a result. i began DCing my hair more often (not as often as i do now) but between that and perhaps a growth aid i believe you will quickly recover.

I've never heard of this happening before. This is so unfortunate. I'm trying to figure out what the heck causes that..could it be the tightness of the braids? These stylists are horrible!

I am sorry this happened to you. I had a couple of spots I use boundless
tresses along with drinking lots of water and taking biotin. I is starting to fill in. Fill in took 4-5weeks to notice

Sorry this happened to you sweetie. You and I have the same hair type. When I did my forced big chop a couple of month ago I had bald patches, not spots, just patches. I wore wigs b/c it was cold outside and then when I started going back to the gym I chunked the wigs. Now, I am wearing silk scarfs covering my satin sleeping bonnet. I wish I knew how to upload pictures b/c I would post some. Your hair will grow back so fast just watch. M DH & DS had to constantly tell me the same thing b/c I was crying(my little one said mommy it's just hair it will grow back I promise. Then he went on to explain to me that when he and dad get haircuts their hair grows back always. Kids are so sweet.)

ETA: you could try Boundless Tresses. I am going to order this next week. I ordered De Louise growth elixir and my little one has some type of allergic reaction to something in it. My DH said that I could no longer use it. If you want it just shoot me your address and I can send it your way.

OH no, I am so sorry that happened to you. When my edges thinned out I used Hair Revitalizer Growth Elixir. It is a product/w sulphur and it helped me to fill in my edges and grow out my eyebrows (this lady jacked them up royally). Other than that I would say don't do styles w/alot of tensions to give your hair a break.

I'm sorry this has happened to you...you could try Nioxin Follicle Booster. I used it when I had post partum shedding and it completely grew my edges back in. It works.

Same here, This was my very first time getting a sew in because my NG had gotten out of control and I thought this would be a good low manipulation stiyle to grow my hair more, the braids she did didn't hurt at all, but when she started to sew it in and got to the middle..it hurt really bad, and everybody was like "Oh it hurts a lil, what are you tenderheaded", and I was like no im not, but went on with it anyway because I thought it was suppose to hurt and will get better...It did eventually get better but something just kept telling me to take it out and I finally took it out on the night of my bday...( I will never forget this bday). But she told me to take Tyelenol too..Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it gives me hope...

Whoever sewed that in needs to see this! ..as suggested by others I would advise going to see a dermatologist. Since we have to find the positive in things, here's what I see. The natural texture of your hair is beautiful and you have a great head shape for short hair. It will grow back, longer, stronger and healthier now that you're starting from scratch.

First let me just say, I am sooooooo sorry this happened. I know that is hard to believe, BUT DON'T PANIC. This exact same thing happened to a really good fried of mine. She took out her weave and had a 50 cent piece size area that was missing. If you don't have one find a dermatologist. If it was me, I would find a black dermatologist. You can get injections of steroids and the hair WILL GROW BACK. My mom also has a alopecia problem do to her para-thyroid. She gets the same dime and quarter size spots of missing hair. Same thing dermatologists shoots her with steroids and the hair grows back. The dermatologist may be expensive, but probably worth the cost. Good luck.

This may be a long hair forum, but we all know the longest, unkempt hair can't hold a torch to a short, perfectly healthy doo.
