I would suggest talking with your doctor and maybe a dermatologist. If you get a blood test done, you can see if you have any vitamin deficiencies which could be the cause of any excessive shedding or unexplained breakage. There has been an increase in people overdosing on vitamins because they are taking too many. Like if you take too much selenium, it can cause hair loss or too much zinc can cause stomach cramps and nausea.
I break out from biotin, msm, silica tablets and anything packed in a bottle and labelled as vitamins. its actually very frustrating, it doesn't matter how much water i drink. I am acne prone to almost everything. So,I am learning to stop trying and focus more on technique and topical growth aids instead. Now i use oil mixes such as sulphur oil mix and do techniques like inversions and massages to aid my hair growth. I also try to exercise to aid circulation.
Just prenatals with added DHA and iron but I don't take them for hair but for my general health. I gave up on taking extra supplements for my hair because it was wrecking havoc on my face and stomach.
The first time I tried Biotin I broke out. I tried it a second time with Msm and I didn't break out, I stop cause MSM cause water retention and makes my boobs look like Im prego. Hydrolyze protein does wonder for my hair and decreases my shedding. Im not consist with it cause I gain weight on it. my appetite is a beast when I take it, I wish it didn't cause I love it. I can only take a tablespoon every 2-3 days and it still works on my hair.
Biotin gave me nasty little bumps on my face. I tried drinking more water, but seemed to only make me run to the bathroom more often as opposed to clearing up the bumps.
Now, I take my daily multi-vitamin and HAIRBURST. Love, love, love.
