Sounds like Ms. Beeyotch was determined to ruin your day!

It was none of her business what you were buying and who it was for...she's there to do her job and not give you crap about what hair products will work on you (like since she's natural, she's automatically an EXPERT).

I'm glad you complained to the manager. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't shop there again...and if that's the case, write a letter to the store manager asnd owner telling them why you will no longer give them your business.

Being the person I am, I'd e-mail the company and ask them...and if I ever went to that store again adn ran into her, I'd whip out their response(which I'd have convienently in my purse!) and show her in writing what a fool she is.
But that's just me!

I second this comment just because she is natural and you are relaxed does not make her better or more knowledgable about hair!

wow, that was extremely rude and out of line. You should be free to purchase whatever beauty products u want.

thats just as ignorant as if a black woman who goes to buy pantene, herbal essences, tresseme etc. gets told by a white cashier that she can't buy those because they are for white hair.

That is such bad behavior -- so rude and ignorant too. I would have been entirely speechless.

I use the Jason Biotin Shampoo and my hair is not natural. Also, just so you know, the information below comes from the Jason website description of some of their products:

http://www.jason-natural.com/products/everyday_hair_care.php

Natural Jojoba Shampoo
Scalp Balancing
JASON Natural Jojoba Shampoo nourishes hair and soothes dry, itchy scalp. 22 Keratin Amino Acids, 3 Proteins and Planthenol-3â„¢ strengthen hair while pure, imported botanicals, vitamins and minerals give a moisturizing boost. JASON Natural Jojoba Shampoo removes sebum deposits that can cause dandruff, itching and hair loss. It helps correct damage caused by blow-drying, perming and too much sun.

Natural Sea Kelp Shampoo
Hair Moisturizing

Hair that is exposed to sun, blow dryers, curling irons, coloring or perms needs to be treated to the richest shampoo of all: "Extra Rich" JASON Natural Sea Kelp Shampoo. It deeply moisturizes your hair with delicate tropical extracts of Sea Kelp, Kukui Nut, Awapuhi (Hawaiian Ginger), Plumeria and Orchid, fortified with Natural Vitamin E, plus Vitamins A and C, and Planthenol-3â„¢.

Tell the dumb *** that it's natural because the ingredients are natural and not chemicals, not because the products are for naturals (per the packaging info)...
Then tell that ***** that you aint no rookie...u get down wit chicks that use horse products and vagina products on they head daily, so JASONS aint no thang to you. Then jump like u about to punch her in the eye... :lachen:

What the **** does this ***** care who you're buying Jason's products for? All that should matter to her nosy tail is that the cash register is getting extra dough from the sale. Why the hostility from her?

I am still shaking with anger from what happened this morning. I figure I'll calm down if I get the real scoop here.

I went to the Whole Body store on 25th and Seventh to pick up some Flax Seed and other items. I'm trying to eat and live healthier and I've been seeing great results from the supplements I've been taking. While I was there, I wandered through the beauty products section and saw shelves full of Jason's Naturals shampoos and conditioners. I remember reading mostly positive reviews of this line from the board, so I decided to splurge and try out the Biotin poo and conditioner and also the Sea Kelp. I want to get away from parabens and SLS as much as humanly possible.

So I get to the counter and the cashier is a sista with pretty dreads to about her shoulders. I put my items on the counter and she's ringing up and then picks up one of the Jason's bottles. She looks at me and says "Who are you buying this for?" And I'm like ... because the way she says it is very weird and almost hostile. I tell her I'm buying it for myself. She then proceeds to TELL ME that this line is for natural hair textures only, not for chemically processed hair. I ask her to show me where it says that on the bottle, because I knew of people with relaxed hair who used it with good results (and also people with natural hair who used it and didn't like it so much). She then starts arguing with me that this line is not for chemically treated hair and that I needed to get Mizani or something (yes, she actually said Mizani or something) for my type of hair. She's getting louder and people are starting to look at us like we're crazy. :( I'm starting to feel embarassed, but I'm heated, too, because it became clear to me that she is one of the natural sistas who believe that the creamy crack has rotted my brain or something.

I asked to speak to her manager, who is an Asian woman, and I told her that I wanted to purchase these products and that the cashier was being belligerent. The cashier told her that the products won't work on my kind of hair because it is a "process" and that she's only trying to keep me from wasting my money. The Asian woman just looked like :perplexed. She rang me up herself and told me that if I don't like the products, I can return them for a refund.

I truly have never experienced anything like this. This woman was adamant that these shampoos aren't for use on relaxed hair. I could see if she was saying that they work better on natural textured or non chemically treated hair, but she said they are not AT ALL for relaxed ladies. I've never heard of anything like this and I'm sort of afraid to try these dang things out now.

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:yeah, she was goofy!

OP, my hair fully relaxed or not does not care for Jason's products. Just as products intended for chemically treated hair work great for some naturals. Sorry you had to confront such ignorance.

That stank ***** was totally out of line for coming at you like that. The products you buy and the reasons you buy them are your business and your business alone. I'm glad you complained to her manager and I hope that manager dealt with her swiftly and sternly. You handled yourself well. That couldn't have been me. I would've clowned on her @$$ and slit her throat with one hell of a tongue lashing.

BTW - I'm a three-year natural and if there's one type of person I've grown to loathe, it's fellow naturals who come across as extremely militant know-it-alls and who are quick to give out unsolicited hair lectures and advice. If I had been there to witness what happened to you, chances are I STILL would've clowned on her @$$ for coming at you like a damn fool.

all I have to say is don't mind her. clearly, she's very close-minded and thinks that only natural products are for natural hair, and that products loaded with chemicals must be for chemically treated hair.

That reminds me of when I was in the store the other day and the cashier complimented a customer on her rod set (on natural hair). The custmer then proceeded to tell the cashier that you can only get a rod set on natural hair, that it won't work on relaxed hair. I'm standing behind her lookin at her like she's crazy, and the cashier just looked at her too. When the customer left, I told the cashier that you CAN do a rod set on relaxed hair. I mentioned to her that I rollerset my hair all the time with various rollers, including rods, and they work just fine. The cashier said that she figured rod sets would word on relaxed heads too and didn't understand why the customer would say something like that.

Anyway, that just goes to show that some people are on that B.S. forreal.

Wow, that's crazy! What was it her business who you were buying it for anyway. I think natural products can be used by relaxed or natural hair. Just think of all the ladies that love Qhemet products......a lot of them are relaxed. I totally agree with sareca.....if the product will harm relaxed hair it will definitely harm natural hair.

Hello! Yes that cashier was a nut job and belligerent. I am sorry you had to go through this. It really is none of her business-her job is to scan items and take and give money -that's it.
:lachen:

I probably would've said that to her face and then got into a brawl!
This cashier does have some issues that go much deeper. I don't understand why people are so focused on whats going on with somebody else's hair. Naturals talk about those who choose to relax and relaxers talk about those who wanna be or who are natural. Some folks got too much time on their hands!

Thanks, ladies. I know I can always count on my sistas here to bring some sense into a senseless situation. I've tried both the Biotin and Sea Kelp poo and condish and so far, my hair is in LOVE. I haven't air-dryed in forever, but I washed and conditioned with the Biotin and it felt soooo smooth on the combout that I just let it dry, and it was full, soft and just ... yum. Today, I used Macherieamour's method of prepooing with conditioner, using Jason's Tall Grass Protein conditioner, then washed and shampooed with the Sea Kelp, set on mesh rollers, and voila! My hair is looking good. My bf said I should go back to Whole Foods when my shift ends this morning and swing my hair in the cashier's face and ask her if she has any more "recommendations." I'm not that kind of girl, though. I do not believe anyone's head of hair is better than another's on the virtue of whether it's relaxed or natural. And as many of you pointed out, it's one thing to make recommendations in a polite manner, but she was extra and she'd better check herself. The next person she speaks to in that manner might not want to work it out in a "civilized" manner.

Clearly, she forgot that her job was to assist you IF needed and ring up your purchases and not to TELL you what you should nor shouldn't be buying. I would've asked her if she was the creator of the Jason's Naturals products and if not, then, put a sock in it.

So glad the products worked for you. That cashier was kind of special, wasn't she?
