I am still shaking with anger from what happened this morning. I figure I'll calm down if I get the real scoop here.

I went to the Whole Body store on 25th and Seventh to pick up some Flax Seed and other items. I'm trying to eat and live healthier and I've been seeing great results from the supplements I've been taking. While I was there, I wandered through the beauty products section and saw shelves full of Jason's Naturals shampoos and conditioners. I remember reading mostly positive reviews of this line from the board, so I decided to splurge and try out the Biotin poo and conditioner and also the Sea Kelp. I want to get away from parabens and SLS as much as humanly possible.

So I get to the counter and the cashier is a sista with pretty dreads to about her shoulders. I put my items on the counter and she's ringing up and then picks up one of the Jason's bottles. She looks at me and says "Who are you buying this for?" And I'm like ... because the way she says it is very weird and almost hostile. I tell her I'm buying it for myself. She then proceeds to TELL ME that this line is for natural hair textures only, not for chemically processed hair. I ask her to show me where it says that on the bottle, because I knew of people with relaxed hair who used it with good results (and also people with natural hair who used it and didn't like it so much). She then starts arguing with me that this line is not for chemically treated hair and that I needed to get Mizani or something (yes, she actually said Mizani or something) for my type of hair. She's getting louder and people are starting to look at us like we're crazy. :( I'm starting to feel embarassed, but I'm heated, too, because it became clear to me that she is one of the natural sistas who believe that the creamy crack has rotted my brain or something.

I asked to speak to her manager, who is an Asian woman, and I told her that I wanted to purchase these products and that the cashier was being belligerent. The cashier told her that the products won't work on my kind of hair because it is a "process" and that she's only trying to keep me from wasting my money. The Asian woman just looked like :perplexed. She rang me up herself and told me that if I don't like the products, I can return them for a refund.

I truly have never experienced anything like this. This woman was adamant that these shampoos aren't for use on relaxed hair. I could see if she was saying that they work better on natural textured or non chemically treated hair, but she said they are not AT ALL for relaxed ladies. I've never heard of anything like this and I'm sort of afraid to try these dang things out now.

I believe certain products are better suited for natural hair and chemically treated hair. I am a natural who doesn't care too much for Jason products maybe one or two. I still use products that may be used or created for chemically processed hair. I could see if she said it works better for natural hair. It seems her approach was very combative. I hate when folks tell me what is best for my head. I work with my hair everyday and no one knows it better.

Girl, you should've told her to mind her own business. It's your money and your hair. You can do whatever you please. She wasn't advising you, she was being belligerent.

Sorry you had to experience that. You handled it very well. Some people become "experts" all of a sudden. She will learn.

I'm natural. I've used some JASON products and liked some and not others. The irony is that I doubt the line was created with the average head of hair on our heads in mind...relaxed or natural.

More likely they were formulated with white women's hair in mind.

So either way, there you go.

 If anybody finds a product that says 'for naturals only' don't use it. If it harms relaxed hair it will harm natural hair.

Wow. I don't appreciate her tone. I am sorry this happened. Even if she were "genuinely concerned" about you wasting your money or harming your hair, her tone was condescending. *****!

ignore the sales clerk, she doesn't know what she's talking about

i am relaxed and i love jason's apricot conditioner and the sea kelp conditioner, they work very well on my hair, the shampoos are nice too, if you compare the ingredients to salon/drug store brands ingredients they are very similar, the difference is jason's puts some extracts and essential oils in there and jason's is paraben free

these are the ingredients for the apricot conditioner, many of the items listed are also found in drug store brands

Ingredients: Aqua (Purified Water), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Hydroflorate®*, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Extract*, Emulsifying Wax, Anthemus Nobilis (Chamomile) Extract*, Stearalkonium Chloride, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Extract*, Equesetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract*, Stearyl Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Gel (Aloe Vera)*, Panthenol (Vit. B5), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil*, 22 Keratin Amino Acids, Glycerin (Vege), Retinyl Palmitate (Vit. A), Cholecalciferol (Vit. D), Linoleic and Linolenic Acid (Vit. F), Planthenol-3T (Plant Phospholipids, DL-Panthenol, Ethyl Panthenol, Steardimonium Panthenol), Glyceryl Stearate, Triticum Vulgare (Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein), Natural Tocopherol (Vit. E), Oxybenzone, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Frangrance Oil Blend.

Sounds like Ms. Beeyotch was determined to ruin your day!

It was none of her business what you were buying and who it was for...she's there to do her job and not give you crap about what hair products will work on you (like since she's natural, she's automatically an EXPERT).

I'm glad you complained to the manager. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't shop there again...and if that's the case, write a letter to the store manager asnd owner telling them why you will no longer give them your business.

Being the person I am, I'd e-mail the company and ask them...and if I ever went to that store again adn ran into her, I'd whip out their response(which I'd have convienently in my purse!) and show her in writing what a fool she is.
But that's just me!

I've dealt with her type before. It's good that you comlained to the manager. Hopefully the cashier will be reprimanded, and learn that she's not the authority on hair.

Ummm...yeah. That's what I was going to post.

That cashier obviously had serious issues.

she was totally out of line. i dont care if the products were meant for chickens only. if you want to spend your money on that, that's your business...IMO, products are products...if it works for you then who cares.

good for you for talking to the manager!

I don't see why it is any of her business what you were buying that for. She shouldn't have even asked.

Exactly, its definatley NONE of her business. Then got the nerve to get mad at what someone else is buying.

That cashier clearly has ALOT of issues.

Ditto, I don't think she was trying to help you at all. I think she was trying to belittle you.

This goes way deeper than relaxed/natural hair for her.

It probably would of been a fight had that been me...

it's sooo ridiculous! (is there an eyerolling avatar?) she had an axe to grind obviously!

keep buying what you want, and just say with a smile, "thanks for your input."

I use Jason's Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner and I have relaxed hair. I work right by the store you mentioned. I should go in and buy some produts and see what she says to me. I will tell her to kick rocks if she comes at me sideways.

Yes, definitely contact the people in charge and report this person. She has some nerve talking to you like that. I wonder if she have been so rude to other type of customers.

Hello! Yes that cashier was a nut job and belligerent. I am sorry you had to go through this. It really is none of her business-her job is to scan items and take and give money -that's it.

It was none of her business who you were buying stuff for and why. She was completely out of line. You should have told her to kiss your butt. Ok, no, not really, but she should have minded her own business.

Wow I cant believe that cashier said that to you! I use Jason Sea Kelp Shampoo and my hair is relaxed. So she can take her comments and shove it.

some people are a trip. i'm pretty sure that manager wasn't too happy with her salesperson trying to help paying customers "save money".

that salesperson should have only offered her opinion if she was asked. she's still wrong but at least she would have had a better reason for even saying anything. whateva. she definitely has issues with women who wear perms.

and exactly what "process" was she refering to?

Wow, . . . this woman obviously has a few screws loose. :ohwell: Since when do cashiers at the beauty supply store get to force their opinion on customers? And to start an argument . . . definitely signs of someone who is unstable.

I'm sorry, but that beeyach was being unprofessional. It's not her place to tell u what 2 do to yr hair. I bet the ***** doesn't even use the Jason line. She just wanted to belitte you. I bet the manager did nothing to her. I wouldn't have given her my $, but that's just me.

I've used J/A/S/O/N's Sea Kelp & Biotin line on relaxed, texlaxed, and transitioning hair and had nothing but excellent experiences.

I'd say she was a militant natural who had a chip on her shoulder.

Give the products a try...I love 'em.

Just another militant nappy giving us a bad name:mad:. You do you, and tell her to do herself...........How is she gonna tell someone what to use?
