ok - took the plunge after I swore off never using a lye relaxer again , after the Mazanis and affirms and so forth. I always always burned with lye relaxers and my hair would always be underprocessed and breaking. My last lye episode was after the silk elements touch up 2 years ago ( can check out the pics from www.picturetrail.com/nomoweavesfome )and I never looked back. see: www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=13002412&uid=6436101( that was underprocessed and burn marks) I switched to olive oil relaxer with no lye and it did me beautifully I think up until a few months ago.

My hair was flourishing and then all of a sudded it started shedding and breaking. I tried to fault everything I was doing, but I wasn't doing anything in my routine that was different. I started thinking the culprit was the relaxer, so I switched to olive oil lye today.

the verdict:

pros
no burning
got hair straight
was way more shinier than ususal
conditioned nicely

cons
hair could have had more slip

loved the way it turned out so far. I did not do any hard protein after like most people do because everytime I do that my hair reverts. my hair does NOT like it. I always wait until the next poo to do a heavy protein. I did do the replenishing pak though. I'm glad I finally found a lye relaxer I like and works without BURNING. So no lye heads don't swear off this one! I'll update to see how my hair reacts over time.

That's awesome! I was thinking of trying the lye, but was worried about burning. You convinced me, at the end of my stretch I will use the lye.

Yeah. It's good stuff.

I just relaxed my hair with it a few days ago and I LOVE the results.

You hair looks good.

I love the no-lye - but I never see the lye version in any of the BSS around here - where are you ladies buying it?

Thx! I will have to take another look, there are a few Sallys in the valley. Right now I'm 7wks post, but I'm trying to do another 4-6 month stretch so we'll see how it works on that much NG.

Hope things work out for you, I experienced the same thing with lye relaxer, it would be good if there was one out there that actually works!

Is that the one that says professional on the box and all lime green?...because I would like to try it also.
