I like my chi but it gets too hot and after a few days, my ends are dry and they start breaking off. My hair is really fragile so i use it like 3 times a year and have to nurse it back to health after each use.

What is a flat iron that is just as good but isnt damaging? I know all kinds of heat are bad but im just looking for the lesser of the evils. I do have a maxiglide already but its too big.

I am assuming your chi doesnt have a temp control on it. I have a Sedu and you can control the temp. Do you use a creamy moisturizer after you flat iron? Do you spray a bit of oil sheen for shine and to lock in the moisture?

I have a chi as well - I love it, but It does get very hot and any type of direct heat like that can be damaging if you don't take care of your hair. I've had issues with crispy ends, but what I've done to keep that from happening is a rollerset - I put a little bit of Blended Beauty curly frizz pudding on the very ends of my hair, then I roll my hair. (Of course any cream would be fine that's not very heavy on your hair.) when I got ready to flat iron, I couldn't believe how smooth my ends were! Also, don't leave the flat iron on one piece of hair for more than a few seconds, just move it down the length of your hair in one consistent and quick motion. And don't spend a lot of time on the ends either, which can make them worse.

Yep, i do all that. It doesnt have temp control. I would get the one with the temp control but i dont think i want another CHI.

i have a sedu, and my hair is generally soft after i use it. like the other poster said , rollersetting will get your ends straight and all you have to do is flat iron your roots.

I dont know how to roller set and ive given up on trying to learn

its really easy and there are tutorials all over the place. try starting out with the bigger rollers until you get the hang of it. OR getting some foam wrap lotion , do a flat wrap, let it dry , add the heat protectant, and flat iron. do little sections at a time . and if you absolutely have to flat iron the ends, run the flat iron over them lightly. doing a flat wrap should get the ends straight anyway, so you shouldnt have to flat iron them.

Yup, ive tried all that so many times but its just not working for me. Glamazon, I realized i did need a trim so i cut off the dead ends and the state of my hair is definitely better. Thanks chica.

I still want to buy another flat iron tho.......:look: prob the FHI just to test it.....:yep:
