Flat ironed again *pics*

I know fully why Mwedzi won't "go silky". That wasn't her goal or point...she rightly don't wanna fry her hair for y'alls sake. Take it or leave it.

Peeps who KNOW what they're looking at, KNOW what they're looking at, right Mwedzi? :giggle: I called ya out 'bout your length girl! ;)

Thank you everyone for the compliments! I really appreciate it!

:clapping: Your hair is gorgeous! But I wish mine was that thick :cry3:lol

Don't cry! I wish mine was thinner. I know no one ever says that around here, but seriously, I don't need this many strands. It takes forever to do anything, and putting a million extra kinky strands in a small space makes for crazy tangling. I thought of getting it thinned out, but I don't want to have to maintain it.

Well thats definitely hot enough for the flat iron. Did you do a press as the middle step? Thats usually the key to me achieving a silky look when I'm a in a staightened mood. Otherwise my style wont last even a day. To get my coils sleek I use the hot tools hot comb:yep:

No, I didn't do another press. I pressed with a hot comb (a real one, don't like the plug-in) earlier this year and used the flat iron this time, but I've never done both together. As long as it took me to do this (3 hours, maybe), there's no way I'd do a second straightening. I was tired! :sleep2: (do we not have a tired smiley? only a sleepy?) Getting my hair silky straight is just not that serious for me. Hmm, that must explain the lack of broken necks. If ever I really want that look, I might give that a try, though. Thanks for the tip.

Ya know Mwedzi, I think you're probably WL now or pushing it. Gotta say that for the record. LOL...shrinkage for ya. ;)

I really wish! I'm not even mid-back, especially since I took off a 1/2" after flat ironing (ssks :wallbash:). From that first pic I think I got another inch or inch and a half hiding in there, max. I know people think it's so big because it's not straight, and true it's not totally straight, but it's straighter than one may think. A lot of the poof is not because it isn't close to straight, but just because I have a lot of strands. A lot. :look: The last study I read showed in their sample group the person on the high end had 3 times as many strands as the person on the low end, and that was in just a small sample size. I think I'm on the higher end of strand count.

I can tell that since I've been being gentle with my hair, it's gotten thicker as in number of strands. Before I was breaking my hair off so severely, from the root even, it was like I was thinning my hair out constantly with the comb. The result was that my hair was actually much easier to deal with. But never this long.

Now I really have too much hair. But if I break it off so that it thins out, then that also inhibits length, which is not what I want. So I deal with it. This thickness with a different texture might be more workable (even if it was just the texture at my nape, which is 4a/b), or this texture with less density would also be easier, but this texture + this density is overwhelming.

OMG your hair is so long! Are you MBL now? Looks maybe longer than that. Your hair is fab. Anybody that says 4b hair can't grow long needs to shut up.

BTW I flatironed on Monday but my hair poofed up within minutes LOL I forgot to check the dew point.

Your hair is so thick, and just beyond gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing these inspirational pics. You have got to love that hair on your head!

I surely would have broken my neck. I would have broken both my legs too, running over to tell you how much I love your hair.

And you have to be at least MBL. Your hair isn't even all the way straight, and it looks close to MBL. And you get alot of shrinkage, so I bet it's longer.

It shouldn't take that long.....I kinda wanna do your hair to prove it to you mwedzi:giggle:

Thats whats up girl! Don't pay me no mind mwedzi, I'm such a person of absolutes when it comes to styles your hair came out fantabulous:cool2:

I really wish! I'm not even mid-back,
Not buyin it!! I think you're at least MBL but you can't tell because of the lovely kinkyness....thats my story and I'm sticking to it!!

ooooohhh true true.

I love your hair. You are definitely an inspiration.
I don't think you need to damage your hair by getting it silky straight. I honestly like your highly textured press. Your hair reminds me of Sera and I couldn't imagine her with a silky press either.

Back on topic: Your hair is gorgeous and has grown tremendously. You can come around my neighborhood and I will stare at your hair for you. Lol

:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Beautiful!!! I am absolutely FLOORED at the thickness of your hair. Floored, I tell ya. I absolutely COVET thick hair!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.

You are definitely a hair idol.

My hair REALLY wants to be like yours when it grows up!!!!

thanks everyone!

I don't think I'm mbl yet. I'm calling myself bsl to be on the safe side.

You, too? Yeah, it's been raining off and on all week here. That should have been a clue. :lachen: But I don't mind. This will give me more length to work with for updos.

I broke my neck looking at it! I actually scrolled up & down a few times before posting.

It looks great!

Thank you, that makes me feel better.

Thanks! You're gonna have to get in line behind Nonie who also wants to do my hair to prove . . . I forgot, actually, but I know she wants to prove something! I'm too tender-headed to let anyone do my hair, though. That's why I went natural, actually, so I wouldn't have to be tortured anymore. The last time I got my hair cornrowed, I was near tears and physically shaking. :nono:

Sometimes I want people to do my hair, though, so I can prove them wrong. :giggle: But you may be right. The last professional to straighten my hair got it straight with a real pressing comb (my hair was different back then, though, as I was blow drying weekly). He did a great job. The whole session took about 4 hours, at least half of which was blow drying and pressing.

I love your hair. You are definitely an inspiration.

Aw, thank you. I'm always happy to be compared in any way to Sera. I like the textured press, too. I'm curious to see it really straight, but I prefer textured looks on me overall.

btw, we share our 1st name.

M,

Your hair is absolutely stunning. I broke my neck checking out your pics if that's any consolation.:yep:

It is, thank you!

Your hair looks fabulous do you do it yourself? how long does it take you? It must be so long when it's all the way straight

As I said on your blog post, I'd have broke my neck checking you out. I don't know anyone with long thick hair like you (that is not a child). It is amazing.

Mwedzi.....could you spare a poor, hungry fine haired woman 1/4 of your thickness  . You and Lynnieb have the THICKEST purdiest heads of hair I have ever seen  . If your hair was money, you'd be richer than Bill Gates, lol
