So before I went to Ghana in January I went and got a touch up and my hair basically got texlaxed, which is okay, I'm going to get a corrective my next time but I've trying to stretch it out. I washed my hair last Friday and I must say it was the most tangled my hair has ever been since I can remember. IDk I think something must be in the air because a lot of ladies on this board are having the same issue. Well it took me forever and a day to detangle and it was a slighty painful experience. My roots were just too thick and too different in textures from my relaxed hair that I decided that all the manipulation that comes with roller setting wasn't going to be beneficial. So I let my hair air dry and then I busted out the flat iron my mom got me for christmas...mind you I haven't used direct heat on my hair in years!! Stylists always told me that my hair couldn't handle it.

So I used the Lanza Neem serum to seal my hair after I used Mane and Tail and Infusium 23 and this coconut oil leave in and redken real control cream leave in to help detangle and moisturize. Then I let it air dry. Then I used the Chi ironguard spray and sally's one and only argan oil as heat protectants and i flat ironed my hair but flipped the iron to make it curl a little bit.

Well, I had little to none of those short hair strands that I get when rollersetting and my new growth was much more manageable and my hair felt nice and moisturized. I just used my satin rollers to touch up the curls that fell a little throughout the week and slept in a bonnet. After about 4 days of wearing my hair down, I put it up in a bun/ponytail as a protective style.

here's the only pic i have of my hair from that day...n yes its on twitter lol

So yea I think I'm going to flat iron throughout this stretch of mine until I get my next touch up....does anybody have any tips or advice so I dont suffer a setback?

THANKS LADIES!

thanks ladies! I wish i had more pictures to show but I'll def. take more the next time so you guys can see the full effect. I'm just glad I didnt have a setback because of all the tangles.

@AMber Moon...oh okay

Does anyone see anything that I'm doing wrong or could be doing better regarding flat ironing? I'm going to do it again for valentines days and after that I'm going to try and do it biweekly which will mean washing my hair biweekly instead of weekly so that I dont overdo it....Does anyone flat iron their hair every week? Does that work out ok?

Very nice :)

How often will you be flat ironing?

Seems like you have the heat protectant thing under control. My only other advice would be to deep condition deep condition deep condition, and set the temperature on your flat iron to the lowest possible setting required to get your hair straight.

:)

im trying to do it every two weeks until i get my touchup. And thanks for your compliment and your advice, I'll make sure to remember that :)
