Do you think you hair is benefiting from products you are trying to "get rid of"? Even though your probably never going to use them again. What do you guys do with your products your trying to "use up"?

Im just asking cuz i have gotten some products that i only used once and never used again. Most of them I just threw in the trash, cuz i felt that hey they didnt do anything for me then what could they do now? If I tried to give them to my sisters they would be like"ur not using it on ur hair and its growing".

I felt kind of bad about the "wasted money". But i dumped it in the dumpster b/f my SO could see them.:perplexed

Thats why i ALMOST not a PJ anymore

I don't believe in "using up" something that I know isn't right for my hair. Well, I can do that with conditioners - I can always mix them up and add oils, honey, etc. if I don't like them on their own. But thank goodness for the product exchange board!

I don't know. I have had conditoiners (probably still do) that have done little to nothign for my hair BUT once I doctored them up with some honey and evoo they worked great and I could use them up without wasting my money. So, I guess it depends on the product. I have tossed a jar of that black protein gel that makes your hair all hard and dry and then flakes. I've also tossed some clear gel that just was not suited for my hair type. I've tossed others, too without regret.

But just as I've had products that worked great to suddenly stop working for me, I guess I hold on to stuff hoping that the reverse will occasionally occur.

I wont throw away conditioners but i dumped africas best liquip hair mayo(that stuff sucked), a pressing creme from jam, some hair repar reconstructer, and some other things i dont even remeber. All I think was if my SO saw that he would chew me out LOL

I think it depends on the product. In my experience, I can always doctor up a shampoo, conditioner, or moisturizer to make it work. Put certain types of spray, oils, or styling products just won't cut it. I rarely just throw a product away though. I give it to friends or clean with it.

I throw some away and give some away. If it's a shampoo, I'll use it as dishwashing liquid, or soft soap or for washing delicates. Conditioners can be doctored up with oils for co-washings.

Yes the products I have trying to get rid of mostly oils and grease used to seal my ends and protect my halo/edges (Sulfur 8 mixed with MTG)
Also I trying to "get rid of" all my conditioners so therefore I CW three times a week and this keeps my hair from getting dry during the Fall/Winter season.

I do think I am benefiting from conditioners I am trying to use up. I add them to my henna mix, and this has worked surprisingly well. I don't use a lot of shampoo, so I threw out those that weren't working for me. I also throw away styling products and leave-ins if they don't work for me.

I am pretty adamant about using up stuff that I bougt cause I just dont have money to waste like that. But like others have said, it's usually a conditioner I can doctor up. I dont usually buy shampoos that I can't use anyways. Of course, the PJ in me is always buying something someone says is great, but I have disciplined myself in using completely whatever I buy unless my mom or sister can use it. But I also make sure it's good for their hair b/c I dont want them using something that's not good for theirs either. :ohwell:
