Hey y'all, me again:D

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and would like to start an extreme makeover challenge!!!! I noticed since I started growing my hair I stopped taking care of my body and have gained 10 pounds in a short period of time! I want to be like a swan when I reach my hair goals! Slamming hair, a slamming body and slamming skin.

I want to do a challenge that kinds of ties in all the great challenges i'm currently in.

water challenge, crown and glory (starting next week), the carrot challenge, nioxin, etc. The way I figure, they all lead to overall health and contribute to hair growing.

My plans...

Hair and Body
Exercise 5-6 days a week using slim and 6 (had great success using this series in the past) and my eliptical machine.
do the downward dog for 5-10 mins. daily to get the blood flowing to my scalp.
drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.
Take my vitamins/supplements daily.(Nioxin,MSM, Biotin, Flaxseed, EPO and Silica Gel)
Eat healthy. I'm gonna do my version of low carbing that helped me lose 3-5 lbs weekly.
Crown and glory.
Co washes and daily moisturizing
MTG (this is a must!!!!!)

Skin
castor oil/olive oil washes.
sugar and olive oil to exfoliate.
lemon juice to tone and hopefully even out skin.

This might get annoying but I want to check in here daily or at least weekly to keep myself on track. I know I could do this in a journal but then I'd be all alone and I'd love to have company!!!!

Anyone care to join me????????

I'm gonna get my fokti up and running this week (hopefully) so everyone can put a face to my name!!

Dec. 31, 2005
Today, I did start it up in the slim and 6 series (24 mins) and did 10 mins on my eliptical followed by 5 mins of downward dog.
Took my vitamins.
I'm currently drinking my water.
I had my greens plus drink (yucky).
I ate 4 egg whites and 1 yolk.
*******************************************************

This sounds great because i was thinking of doing the same.
when does it start. i don't have a regimen, so i'll place it in my sig when i get one.

yes i'm joining i need motivation too

body/fitness
.madeup interval 30 mins workout morning
.45 mins walk away the pounds evening
.toning with workout band comes with workout plan 5x a week
. pilates 5x a week
skin
.wash skin honey/coconut oil, then exfoliate with loofah and rub homemade vit.c serum on body, then rub lactic acid lotion on skin its homemade. do my own facials everyweek with homemade masks, toners etc.
.apply heavy cream to hands and feet and sleep with cotton socks on them
.do my own pedicure every two weeks
i want to look good for the summer.
good luck and stay focus ladies!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great idea. I've totally gained weight since taking all these vitamins and want if off. My hair is thriving but I want to get the rest of my body in shape.

Hey Ladies,
Thanks for joining. Don't forget to post your hair regimen too although exercising is a great way to get your hair to thrive!!!!!

Determine,

What do you do with the lemon juice to even your skin tone?

I squeeze fresh lemon onto a cotton ball and dab at my untoned areas. Some ppl rub it on their face but lemons are harsh bc of the acid so i only dab a little. From what I have researched, if overused, it can have a "bleaching" effect and this is definately NOT my intentions. I only want to even out those dark spots or acne spots. I want to be make-up free by March!

Determine,

how much did you lose from using Slim in 6?
And did u use the elliptical in combination with using Slim in 6???

I would also like to be apart of this makeover i really do need a extreme makeover from head to toe..

Hair:
Sew in Weave Challenge wear weaves 6 to 8 weeks
do full head sew in weaves for entire year
add highlights in with weave and try different things with weave
wash and deep condition hair
keep hair moisturized(MTG etc..)
Transition to natural??

Skin:
Keep skin clean
Still continue to use Glyquin XM and Retin A
For body try using Clear Essence to lighten and get rid of old
dark spots...
Get a facial done...

Nails/Toes:
Try to get more manicures and pedicures

Body:
Workout 5 to 6 times a week(lose 25 to 30 pounds before summer or Birthday in August)
Turbo Jam Challenge/Firm Challenge/Slim in 6
Vary between different workout videos
Try not to be lazy at night when have time on hands
and jump on elliptical at least for 10 to 20 minutes
continue to do Weight Watchers...

Dress:
Try to be more versatile and sexy...
Try to vary and wear different things besides jeans and tshirts and tennis shoes...
Wear more heals and boots...

And finally budget money more, get second job, save, pay bills off, and stop pjism....

I definitely want to be a part of this since I have been longing to have a top notch body... Count me in

CinnaMocha, you are going to be so fine for your trip! Good luck!!

In 6 weeks, I lost between approx.10 lbs but it's the INCHES that made the difference. I went from a size 9 to a size 5. I think it's because they use so much weights and weight bearing exercises in this program!

good luck everyone! I'm going to update what I've accomplished today later on. btw..I'm really starting to see myself with long hair! It's no longer "I hope my hair grows long" it's now "I know my hair will be long-this year" Even though my hair is barely shoulder length right now, I see myself at least at armpit length between sept-dec.

Happy Hair Growing!

I am in this extreme makeover. Been preparing myself since October to get to this routine. Because there are so many products and methods to choose from, I am focusing on 3/4 month cycles. My sew in will stay in for the year but the products will change seasonally. You have to give products/methods 8 - 12 weeks to see a difference. Next year, I will have a better understanding of the products and methods that work best for me.

Hair
Sew In Weave Challenge for the whole year
8 - 10 weeks in 2 - 3 weeks out. Wash every 10 days.
Products: MTG, Buddha Butter (If I can find it), Emu Oil,
Need to find a deep conditioner and a coniditioner for cowash
Work this weave in as many styles as I can without damaging my hair.

Skin
(The following routine is for Jan - March. Will switch up in April to find other products)
Facials with oatmeal/yogurt, orange/yogurt, or pineaaple scrub 4x/week
Rosehip Seed Oil on my face morning and night.
Drinking Water, Water and more Water
Figure out about the false eyelashes things. Want to rock these this year..

Body
Workout with Kettlebells 6x week in the mornings.
Dance classes: Belly dance 2x week, Hip-Hop, Go-Go Stilleto, & Dancehall 2x week
Cleanse: 2 weeks Apple cider vinegar 1/day, colon cleanse every other day, Bija Deep Cleanse tea every other day, Liquid Milk Thistle - for liver health 2 weeks after the colon cleanse
Continue on my Quick Weight Loss Plan
Vitamins: Multi-vitamin & Milk thistle

This is all that I have on my Jan-Mar calendar.....Still planning for the year.

We can do it together ladies!! P.S. I'm sitting here watching the JLo video and I don't want to forget about my abs!!! Crunches 3x a week!!!

Skin & Nails:
Gentle daily cleanser

20-30 minutes exercise 5 days per week

I'm really looking forward to this challenge and tracking progress with all of you. Here's to a great 2006 for all of us!:)

This sounds great ladies but- and forgive me if I'm out of line- please don't forget about your spiritual selves and work on that too if need be. I know I'll be working on mine. I wish you all luck and I hope everyone accomplishes what she wants. I think I may partially participate in this as well since it sounds like something I've been wanting to do for a while now.

Ladies I was just thinking about this last night and I really need to do this because I was put on blood pressure medicine this year and told to lose about 35 lbs. so count me in.
Body
Exercise a minimum of 3x a week (Treadmill, stationary bike, pilates, and weights.)
Limit dessert to 1x a week.
Drink more water throughout the day.
Hair
Massage scalp 1x a week.
Co wash 1x a week.
Shampoo every 2 weeks.
Deep condition every 2 weeks.
Light protein treatment every 6 weeks.
Do rollerset or straw set and keep back pinned up until it reaches a few inches past shoulder length to protect my ends.
Skin
Exfoliate 1x a week.
Deep cleansing face mask 1x a week.
Take GNC Hair, Nails, and Skin vitamins daily.

Good luck ladies and remember there is strength in numbers.

Wow ladies, all your regimens sound great!!!!!!! I had to take today off because I'm braiding my hair myself for the first time. Last night I did a ACV rinse with my weave in and the results were terrible:lol: . I don't know what happened but my weave became knotted and matted like one big dread (a bunga knotty dread for those understand that term :lachen: ). Anyways, my hubbs had to cut that bad boy out of my hair last night and since I have work tomorrow and noone's around to do my hair, I had to do it myself!!!!!!!! Needless to say, it's looking good so far but is taking a very long, long time! The plus side is that I was planning on incorporating the crown and glory routine into my regimen so I was gonna braid my hair anyways and forcing myself to learn how to do it, helps me better take care of my own hair! Now I can redo or retouch my hair myself without having to beg someone else to do it. Also, bc I know better, I'm braiding my hair without doing it super tight!!!!!!!

This sounds great ladies but- and forgive me if I'm out of line- please don't forget about your spiritual selves and work on that too if need be. I know I'll be working on mine.
Hey Chinagem, I love that you wrote this bc I have also put more attention into my spiritual side-for myself and my family. We might not post it here but we're doing it!!!!!!!! Thanks for putting that out there!

wow determine3 great minds do think alike most of your routine is what i do (or trying to keep up)
I'm in this challenge my very 1st challenge
Love it! Welcome to your very first challenge!!

Well ladies, i'm off to finish my hair! Wish me luck!

oops, forgot to add something in.............................

Yesterday for the first time in soooooooooo long, I did my nails  . My nails have been growing so quickly with beautiful white tips but do to me not being a real girly girl, they keep breaking off and I'm like "who cares, it will grow back!" Anyways, long story short, I went out and bought a nail strengthener gel called triple strong that has calcium, teflon (??????????) and something else. Of course it's clear:lachen: but my nails are so nice!! It came with a nail file that looks kinda like a pumice stone but a skinnier version. Next are the feet!!!!!!!

I want to join, too! This sounds so good. It's actually what I had in mind for myself in the new year anyway so having this support group will be great! I so want to be "hot mom", you know...

Okay...

BODY

Exercise at least 3 times per week (right now, I'm working out twice a week with a personal trainer and I work out at least twice a week on my own with one of those days being a walk/run day)

Drink plenty of water.

Eat more vegetables and fruits. Make sure I get my protein without taking in a lot of fat.

Detox/Cleanse weekly.

I just started a good multi-vitamin that I got from Wild Oats, can't recall the name of it right now.

I may try Nutri-System but, if I do, I won't be ordering it until the end of January.

SKIN

Proactive at least once a day...I'm trying for twice per day...until I use it up and then I'm not sure what but I have enough of it to last me for 4-5 months if I use it twice per day.

Drink plenty of water.

Hair, Nail, and Skin vitamins.

At home microdermabrasion once per week.

HAIR

Protective styles (buns, wigs, phony pony)

Relax as needed (I can't stretch past 10 weeks without dire consequences) with Vitale relaxer

Drink plenty of water.

Wash as needed (once or twice per week, I usually do more frequent CW the closer it gets to time for my relaxer)

Deep condition weekly, protein treatments as needed

MTG, multi-vitamin, Nioxin, Hair, Nail, and Skin vitamin, and EPO

Once I get to bra-strap, I'm going to start dustine my ends.

Okay, I think that's about it for me. I have some other supplements and stuff that I'll probably throw in there like this liquid hair vitamin that I'm trying and I picked up some black sesame seeds that's supposed to be good for skin and hair.

This is going to be an awesome year!

that's a great point! my pastor gave the congregation the goal to read "The Bible" all the way through this year! I thought it was a great idea! I'm ashamed to say that i've never read it all the way before.

hey! how often are we updating??? i got off to a fantastic start today. i was going to workout in the basement and my hubby told me there's an old taboe (spelled wrong?) tape downstairs. i figured why not? i felt so great afterwards i can't remember why i ever stopped!

happy week ladies!

Wow, sweetcaramel, you have some gorgeous hair!!!!!!!!!

Ladies, I just wanted to check in here today! I worked out this am for 45 mins, drank 3 bottles of water (it's 6am so this is good for me) took my vitamins and now i'm off! BTW....I was given a prayer book for christmas and try to read it every morning and evening. Very uplifting.

Now that my hair is braided I want to start cowashing more. This evening I have to come in and see if you can cowash with the stocking cap. I don't think conditioner will work like shampoo bc there's no sudding!!!!

Have a great day ladies and I wish you all the best in everything you do today. Be positive, stay focused and live life to the fullest!!:)

I worked out yesterday with my personal trainer for 50 minutes. I am still pretty sore this morning. I had broiled salmon and sauteed veggies (squash, zuchini, onions, mushrooms, red and green bell peppers) for dinner. Drank as much water as I could stand (which probably still is not enough) and had a cup of detox tea with black sesame seeds before I went to bed. Being gorgeous is going to be some hard work!

How's everyone doing on this challenge? remember, if you mess up a day or 2 or 3 ;) just start over the next day!!!!! I feel pretty good about my accomplishments today except the fact that I broke down and ate a mini bag of chocolates and a pack of licorice:look: . BUT, today was better than yesterday!!

Anyone have a good example of how to apply MTG to scalp with box braids? I know I can seperate them and apply but it seems to take so long? I'm used to doing a whole row with weave in.

Anywho, happy hair growing and body shaping y'all...

Hey girl, update as much as you want. I am definately not updating daily but whenever I feel that adreneline rush or divine sensation, i'm over here typing away!

Hey, Taebo rocks!! It's tedius but has proven results. After my 3rd baby, Taebo helped me go from 190lbs to 158lbs in less than 3 months. Girl, you should try the new tapes in the boot camp series:eek: I can barely finish those ones:lachen:

I'll join and do the best I can. I'm already busy enough so I don't know if I can keep up with everything on a consistent basis.

Hey Determine! Girl I'm going to rent some from Blockbuster and see which ones I like! I am soooooooo sore today. I'll pick back up tomorrow. It's going pretty good so far. Challenges are being at home all day (studen and schools out) and eating late dinners with my husband. I'll definitely have to work on smaller portions!

w/o completed.
vitamins completed.
skin completed.
water...in progress.

Grouchiness and frustration this am???? Oh yeah, it's there. I can't stand rainy days:lol: Sometimes I want to jump up and say "hey, you need to except me for who I am!!" because I don't want to workout and then I remember, my hubby is not the one with the problem- it's me:lol: I hate how my energy level drops when I gain weight.........

OK, my rant is over, off to work:D
