Hi ladies,
If this is a repeat thread please forgive me. It may seem a bit off topic, if so, someone call the thread police and have it moved or killed. At any rate, I was talking about this place to someone who asked ME how did I get my hair so thick and well behaved. Well they've obviously only seen me here at work. Anyway, when I told them about this site they chimed in with "oh, sites like those are for imbalanced college girls who have just gotten away from their moms and can do what they want with their hair now." WHAT? I took offense immediately because 1.) What were they implying if I hang out here? 2.) All of the wealth of knowledge I've received here isn't from insane people(well mostly:look:). I consider you girls my bestest internet buddies . So, for the record, what do you do? No one has to put it up on here because this is a very public place. But take the poll and let's see how many types and walks of life we have here. I think everyone wants nice hair.

I'm - shoot, 8 years out of college, and I'm a IT Business Analyst for a multi-billion dollar company. You might drink your coffee out of our products.

We did an age poll here a little while back. The average age is mid to late 20's if I remember correctly. That shoots down that theory right there.

but... I do happen to be a college aged, imbalanced person :lachen:

However, my mama hasn't had control of my hair since I was 12

Wow, I didn't know this was up before I made the poll...sheesh!

ETA~ I work in a hospital/university in upper administration. Some people say I'm in high cotton now...HA!

Hmmm. I'm a college student. Well, graduate student. And I've been on here since I was in undergrad. That's a little different uhhh I guess?

But so what if it WAS a site that mostly college students used? Does that make the information invalid? IDK I just don't get the relevance :look:

well shoot im a college student who just got away from her mama doing her hair and badly if i might add. but its not her fault she was the baby and everyone did her hair so she didnt really know what to do with mine now i just gotta keep her away from my hair if i want it to be healthy and grow longer without hurting her feelings.

So your co-worker wants your healthy hair tips but then insults your resource (and you indirectly) when you tell her? What was the point of all that? She sounds envious AND imbalanced to me. Watch your back. :ohwell:

i'm currently a sahm, but i do have a degree and i have worked up until 6 months ago. i'm 30 years old and married with toddlers.

I'm a psychologist with a PhD. I am safely an adult (by age) with a husband and one toddler. I have long lived away from my mother and I'm psychologically, physically, and spiritually well adjusted. I just like taking care of my hair! :)

EXACTLY! I tell her where I get my info from and then she poo poo's it off like I'm some psycho. If she asks me anything else about hair I'm going to tell her "gee, this might not work for you because my psycho internet buddies gave me this advice and I'm crazy enough to try it." She's sort of the hater type though. She looks people up and down when they're not looking, I've seen her do it.

:lachen::lachen::lachen:

I asked two of my classmates who have pretty hair for some tips- both of them repeated things that I heard on this board & even told me about this site, so I feel pretty confident that this is a good place for information. I know them IRL and they are not psycho and neither am I!

More than 50,000 members here..most rarely post or keep their personal life strictly separate from the :look:screen so even the age polls are skewed. No telling the true ages, occupations of most members.

Work for a former Investment Bank (thanks to the economy) in my early 30s and I'm in and out of college every other year.

Former teacher, now a business owner and artist. I've been natural for about 35 of the last 40 years, so yeah, I can do what I want with my hair now.

I am an graduate student, I work in the school system and will be moving on to the social sector when I finish interning.

I've been a beautician, also worked in management for Worldcom before they went under..Now I am a stay at home Mom and a college student...who by the way has a 4.0 average every semester...(sorry I had to add that, I'm proud of myself)

i am a full time college student and i have a full time job. its not my career though. im still up under mom and dad 'cause i love them and like living with them.

I am a Registered Nurse that works 40+ hours a week, and I that consider a light load, compared to you ladies out there that have husbands, children, plus full time jobs. This lady is just making an excuse as to why she is too lazy to show an invested interest in her hair.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Ok........back to the subject :look:.......I'm a Professional with a Masters Degree. I love this site and learned everything about hair right here.

i'm an older teen lol (19) but i work full time(banking) and part time(retail) and i stay in and out of college. I live with my mom, but until she starts buying my hair products... no lip service lol

I voted Business Professional. I was complimented on my hair today and was asked what my hair regimen is. I referred the lady to this web-site. She didn't make any derogatory comments though. She seemed truly grateful.
