A coworker told me a friend of his was opening a salon where they only blow dry your hair. I can't imagine that this is a new concept starting here in St. Louis. But here is the website: http://blownawaystl.com/

I would love to go but would need to hear from you ladies first.

Like what to expect or ask for. TIA!

I need to see pics of actual black women with their hAir done from one of these salons. It does sound interesting though.

i heard about something like this in California and thought it was really neat. like AutumnDreams said though, i haven't seen any that claim to know how to handle textured hair. definitely let us know if you take the plunge to try it out :yep:

On the price list they charge $5 more for length/textured hair.

I hope that doesn't mean $10 for a big afro.

I think they haven't been open long enough for many reviews.

Apparently there are two opening at the same time from two separate partners.
Maybe someone will review on Yelp.

My coworker goes to one here in Texas.
They originated in CA (I believe).

They blowout her weave.. :look:

So yea.
No. I've never been.

It's funny you say that cause I was looking on the website and there is AA stylist and I was certain that the customers hair was a weave but of course from being on LHCF I felt bad about second guessing if it was her hair.

Is the salon in the Dallas area? My Mom lives there and I think she would love this.

I'm not sure which one she visits, but per their website there are 3 in the Dallas area:

They have quite a few here in California. I'm very skeptical on how it would work on ethnic hair, and of course they use a high amount of heat to dry the hair which is very damaging no matter how much heat protectant you use. I'll just stick to air drying and flat ironing with my Sedu.

I've heard of them. I feel like I would leave looking like Mufasa when it was all over.

Lmao!! I definitely read that just like how the hyenas say it in the movie MU-fass-sah!

i guess it would be the same as a blow out and using a round brush to style. that sounds like so much damage. since they aren't even going to roller set the hair to dry it first. but a lot of women do this already. they go and get their hair blow dried, then flat ironed.

I once went to a white salon (with a black hairstylist) and she softly and carefully blew out my hair lol and when I looked in the mirror all I could think was Mufasa!!! I looked at her like "Are you seriously going to send me on my way like this?" and she looked at me, took out her curling iron and curled my hair, lol.

I went to the drybar and loved it. I'm natural and my hair came out pretty. I'm 3ish and my stylist was black.

Anything in particular that I should expect? I'm mostly concerned with the products she'll use and maintenance at home. I'm not shy about letting them know if it is too hot.

Do they ask you any questions at all. How do you choose a style?

Did she use a brush while drying?

TIA

I'm natural and tried a couple of blow out bars and didn't like any of them enough to go back.

I tried Hair Rules (Black salon) - review is on my blog here: http://goingnaturaltransitionington...hair-rules-express-blow-out-salon-experience/

I then tried OMHH Red Room Luxe Salon (Black salon) - review is here (hot mess)...I had to redo my hair when I got home.

I then tried Blow Pro (White salon) - review is here: http://goingnaturaltransitioningtonaturalhair.com/random-posts/blow-pro-blow-out-salon/

So far I have not gone back to either of them since I can do a better blow out on my hair at home.

That's part of my problem. I have completely loss the knack of straightening my own hair. I used to be able to use a pressing comb and get my hair to flow like it was newly relaxed. Looking for something new.

I'm on such a strict budget right now I hoped this would be a good alternative to the $65-$70 I usually shell out. Although my hair would be beautiful.
