Air dry vs blow dry

Last night I washed my natural hair and placed big twist to stretch my hair. However my friend just told me if it was more length I was trying to achieve then blow drying would give me more length then letting my hair air dry.

Before I add heat to my hair, l would like to know if this is true.

The key is less heat for healthier hair. If you can get away with twisting to dry your hair I would stick with that.

Each night you twist, your hair stretches more and more. If you can, minimize using heat.

Was airdrying a lot but now I blowdry just b/c I was experiencing more ssks and breakage from airdrying stretched. I will say this though, that my hair felt more moisturized when airdried then blowdried but the breakage and ssks weren't worth it.

I actually prefer air drying when it comes to wearing the hair in a natural state.

If i need to speed up drying i will sit under the dryer

when you want to stretch your hair try doing it when the har is damp not wet so you will get less shrinkage. Also use a roller on the end to keep the ends smooth and prevent tangling.

What do you mean more length? Like a larger twist out? For me blowdrying does give my hair a larger and longer look as opposed to air drying since it's being stretched with heat.

I've been doing both though. I've always felt like blowdrying right after I washed it was too drying; so I would air dry till it was about 75% dry then blowdry. Now I air dry till its totally dry then blow it out. Much better results.

For me, a twist out on blow-dried hair will appear longer and fluffier than a twist out on wet hair. I can stretch my hair over the course of several days with no heat, but if I want style it faster, I have to blowdry or use curlformers.

You can try rollersetting or banding to give more stretch than just twisting/braiding. Blowdrying puts a lot of direct heat on the hair so unless you're using a diffuser or doing it on a seldom basis, I wouldn't risk it.

Nayna, yes I mean longer length. It appears as though when she blow dries her hair her twist are much longer then when she just lets it air dries. She also said that she has noticed less frizz when she blow drys and twist.
