Ever go to a blow dry bar?

A coworker told me a friend of his was opening a salon where they only blow dry your hair. I can't imagine that this is a new concept starting here in St. Louis. But here is the website: http://blownawaystl.com/

On the price list they charge $5 more for length/textured hair.

I hope that doesn't mean $10 for a big afro.

I think they haven't been open long enough for many reviews.

Apparently there are two opening at the same time from two separate partners.

It's funny you say that cause I was looking on the website and there is AA stylist and I was certain that the customers hair was a weave but of course from being on LHCF I felt bad about second guessing if it was her hair.

Is the salon in the Dallas area? My Mom lives there and I think she would love this.

They have quite a few here in California. I'm very skeptical on how it would work on ethnic hair, and of course they use a high amount of heat to dry the hair which is very damaging no matter how much heat protectant you use. I'll just stick to air drying and flat ironing with my Sedu.

i guess it would be the same as a blow out and using a round brush to style. that sounds like so much damage. since they aren't even going to roller set the hair to dry it first. but a lot of women do this already. they go and get their hair blow dried, then flat ironed.

Anything in particular that I should expect? I'm mostly concerned with the products she'll use and maintenance at home. I'm not shy about letting them know if it is too hot.

Do they ask you any questions at all. How do you choose a style?

Did she use a brush while drying?

I'm natural and tried a couple of blow out bars and didn't like any of them enough to go back.

That's part of my problem. I have completely loss the knack of straightening my own hair. I used to be able to use a pressing comb and get my hair to flow like it was newly relaxed. Looking for something new.

I'm on such a strict budget right now I hoped this would be a good alternative to the $65-$70 I usually shell out. Although my hair would be beautiful.
