Ever feel it might be EASIER to get a weave???

Okay, hear me out...

So, I've grown my hair out succesfully. It's healthy for the most part (a few areas I can still improve....but overall it's healthy). It's brastrap, so still a ways to go before my goal of wiastlength, however....I'm sure I'll get there. So, NOW though, I'm ultra focused on my fitness schedule. Just started back to a regular workout routine after a period of a year and a half, and it feels GREAT! Here is my dilemma....my hair. It's a waste for me to wear it out and go to the gym. So, I am in my bun 90% of the time...more like 95%. I have a good friend who wears a FABULOUS weave...undetectable and I mean FABULOUS. She works out with no issues. For her, it's easier that way.

So I wonder, is it easier to just get the weave? I mean I'm working toward all this length that I won't really be wearing out on the regular anyhow because everyone knows that working out is a lifestyle....so for my lifetime, I'll be active regularly each week 3-4 days. So what's the point ladies? What are your thoughts??? (Partly, I'm bored with my bun too.)

I'm bored with my bun as well. For me it would be easier to just get braids than a weave. I workout 4-5 days a week. The thing with the weave for me is I would have to wash and condition the weave just as much as I do my own hair, if not more because I sweat so much. :nono: I do spinning 3 days out of the week and I've also started the couch to 5k(another 3 days of sweating like a stuck pig). I just go oh well, wear the bun and call it a day. :look:

Yeah, I know what you are saying. I mean....do celebrities bun all of the time and just get glam in public view? They work out more than regular folk. How do they do it?

This is my dilema:wallbash:. I don't do braids. I can only work out on days I am about to wash. I am hesitant about the full weave because I don't want to look 'old'. What does your friends weave look like?

I know what you mean about the old "look". Yeah, and braids I will not do for a few reasons. But I kid you not, her weave looks like she doesn't have one. She wears it straight or loosely curled....it's about between brastrap and waistlength....and it is undetectable. We generally wear the same style except hers is a weave and perfect. EVERYONE who has seen it comments on how beautiful her hair looks. You have to pay the cost to be the boss though...price is up there (IMO).

BTW Love your siggy!

In some ways yes, but I love having my own hair. When I want to be cute, I throw on a 1/2 wig or a phony pony, but most days it's me, co-washes, and a bun. A weave is too much committment and extra thought has to go into how to care for the hair underneath.

I know what you mean. I have used half wigs as well. In fact I hae a picture of one in my fotki. I guess that is another option that I forgot about.

Congrats on getting back on your workout routine, tthreat!

I know exactly what you mean re: wasting time doing hair and working out. For me, it has definitely been much easier to just wear a fall 24/7. I CW the hair that is left out after each workout and it blends perfectly with the fall when it dries (I'm wearing it in the avi pic).

My hair underneath is doing quite well and I intend to keep the same routine until I'm finished transitioning; I might keep it up even after that because it's so easy.

I will say that I had an unpleasant experience with a sew-in and will never get another one.

Thanks you!

The convenience of falls....sounds even better. I guess I can conitnue to try to perfect my braid out for variety and versatility as well.

I am about ready to 'pay the price'. I can't look a mess and I must work out (can't let things slip). Let me know if you venture out and try it. Girl, if you come back from your friend's stylist looking fierce!-- She will have two new customers. :yep:

I'm pretty confident in his skill set....I'll PM you.

I think I am going to get a realaxer and get a weave also.:yep: I have to get my touch-up first though.

I've thought about it since reading this post and I may have to wig it...I need to find someone who can make me a bomb wig or rather a couple of wigs. That way I can monitor what's going on up under that mug. Now I have to practice doing my cornrows neater so I don't get that bulk. :perplexed

I checked out your fall and it was really cute! I think I may try one of those and alternate between wigs.

I would like to try the fall/half wigs as well. Oshun, who made the "Summer" fall in your fotki? It's a back view and looks really curly.

I have thought about this also. I just started exercising 45-1 hr. every weekday morning. I love it and I don't want to stop...ever. I exercise early in the morning b/f work and I can't get my hair all glammed up in a strange bathroom. I can't wash an go either. So what can I do?

I've thought about going natural, but I'm not sure if I will like the way it looks, but it is still kind of an option. I'm just not sure how my 4a coils will look once they grow out. They definitely clump together and spiral on their own, but I don't wanna be rocking an afro (if that's what it would look like), that's just not me.

Now that I know I can grow my hair out to amazing lengths, I want to do it, but what do you do if you can only rarely wear your hair down?

I'm right with ya and I was pondering all this while exercising this morning. I'm 10 weeks post and my bun is looking kind of...well, like I got 10 weeks of NG underneath everything! lol

It's not that bad. But I was thinking that maybe I would try flexirods and rod sets and see if they can hold up. If that doesn't work, then I don't know :look:

Hey Sashaa-

That one was by Isis Collection (Jody, 1B). It was super curly and everyone loved the look but I could never get my hair to match perfectly (had to wear headbands with it), so I never got it again.

Thanks, chicacanella!
