Essence.com-Unlocks the Secret to Growing Healthy Hair

That poor woman is as bald as an eagle:rolleyes:..... I saw Beyonce's name too... Her hair is JACKED... So he must be the "wig stylist" for these people.:nono:

I knew the article was in trouble after that too...But I read on...

Ummmmm Naomi, yes LOL...but Beyonce's hair is like past APL - BSL. It's def not jacked. It's just those jacked up lacefronts/wigs she wears sometimes.

STYLIST,STYLIST,STYLIST,STYLIST,STYLIST,,STYLIST,STYLIST GOSH finding a good stylist is like looking for a good doctor .. .hard to find!!!

Haven't we all been reading these helpful hints for years

You said it! This article was just a reiteration of ALL the same stuff I've heard and read for years. It was basically like a compilation of all the same tips you would read if you subscribed to the mag. Nothin new at all!! :nono::nono:

Ok article. He relies too much on your relationsip with stylists to turn your hair around. We need to be empowered to do this ourselves.

..and the choir says AMEN!!

He said it should be done by professions to avoid overlapping and damage. If the person knows what they are doing then sure. But more often then not, they dont. They overlap, dont prep well enough, leave it on too long, straighten too much, etc etc. I will never get a relaxer at a salon because they will overprocess my hair, I know it, by trying to get rid of my texture.

EXACTLY. For the most part, our hair is so not on their priority list. It's how many clients they can fit in in a day, how many extra products can they try to sell you in the shop, when will you be making your "next appointment" ($$) and HOW much will you tip them. My friend and I had the same stylist for about a month...till I had to leave her, I tipped her $15 after a relaxer and my friend tipped her $50!! Well you can guess who her best friend was...lol..Honestly, my mother did my last relaxer, and she has a whole lot more invested in me NOT being bald than any of these "buisness people". Sorry, if it sounds hard, but I've had SOOO many bad experiences with stylists. I have friends and family that are hairdressers too, so not trying to diss, but it really is just a JOB to most of them, not some "labor of love"

Yea - when I saw dr. Miracles - I thought...."well - it is going down hill after that..."

LMAO!!:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

You are better off with Peppermint oil... not that CRAP.

I agree... I think that I am so jaded and I have had so many bad experiences - that a relationship with a stylist is just a joke to me. I am happy for those who do find someone great. I am sure they exist.

Yes, I think they are out there and once my hair is thick, long and bouncy I will allow them to "style" me..but I really think I'm done with them for relaxers (HUGE waste of money) and any daily health tips..I'm good.:nono: I will admit though, I've NEVER been able to flat iron or curl my hair like some of them can..I will give credit where it's due!

It was informative...but it relied too much on that stylist turning these women's hair around. I think that black women (like we have) can turn our own hair around without waiting for expensive stylists to open their books up to new clients....

Totally agreed but from his perspective, he has to keep his day job. What do you think is going to happen to Salons if all women are suddenly empowered to take care of their own hair?

It was more like subtle advertising than a real article. Where are the secrets? How does this information help the average person take care of their own hair even between salon visits?

I'm sure those products were recommended because they paid for the plug.

He had some great tips and advice, if i could afford a stylist i would have a game plan with this article. I think in the past i assumed that stylist wanted the best for your hair, but as with any relationship you gotta find the best person for you. So as i look in the mirror my stylist (me) will work more diligently.
Nice find!

(I think he's gonna push stylist cause he is one if everyone did their hair at home he'd be out of a job and then who would buy his $200 hair serum. If i was a stylist I'd have my clients convinced it was my magic that grew their hair too.)
