Good day Ladies,
Can anyone offer any suggestions 4 me to incorporate in my developing hair care regimen that will encourage maximum growth?

Good day and welcome. It would probably help if you posted your current regime or what you have decided to do thus far. Also I would do a search of the forum for the following things that can encourage growth because they can be utilized as part of a healthy regime:

scalp massage
conditioner wash
acv rinse
protein (both intaking protein and protein conditioners)
vitamins (check out the bargello routine, msm, biotin)

You can also check out the routines of the ladies featured each month, also some ladies post routines along with their picture files..or if you see someone's hair you like or who has the same hair type as yours..pm them and ask for their routine..they would be glad to share it with you.

This is just an example..I'm sure many ladies can help you further.

My hair growth took off when I started doing co washes, drinking protein shakes and v8 juice (I dont eat veggies)add the supplement spirulina to my vitamin regimen.
I am also surging consistently.

daily conditioner washing, Consistently taking my multivitamin and B-Complex vitamin daily, no direct heat.

~no heat
~putting conditioner on my dry hair instead of a traditional moisturizer
~portective styles (allowed to retain major growth)

Hi papismami

No direct heat
Frequent washing - especially conditioner washes close to touch-up
Keeping the ends moisturized - this is the most important for me

i dont use heat on my hair
using a moisturizing conditioner on ends everyday
deep conditioning treatments after washing every week

I agree with the other posters: maximize moisture to your hair (but don't forget protein treatments for strengthening, especially if your hair is chemically processed).

I understand that not all things work for all people, but generally what I've found to encourage growth, in addition to the above, are: <ul type="square"> [*]A good diet! [*]Fewer trims [*]Patience! (not only for long-term goals but *daily* handling, e.g., only dealing with my hair when I can give it the proper amount of time...instead of rushing and causing unnecessary hair loss, esp. during detangling) [*]...and Consistency! [*]Wrap hair nightly in silk scarf [*]Keep my hands out of my hair! I style once a day and that's *it* - otherwise, if it's not wash day, it's hands off (protective styles help with this)[*]Protecting my ends from friction and the drying effect of the air with protective styles, like buns [*]Stretching out time between relaxer touchups [*]And finally, I stopped measuring my hair every few weeks...that really seemed to help

Moisture, Moisture &amp; Moisture! Dry, brittle hair is a no-no. The tips given by the girls above should prevent such.

Welcome Papismami!

All of the above are important to encourage hair growth.

I'll add:

Drinking lots of water daily (I've learned a minimun of 1/2 your weight in ounces)
Daily exercise (really speeds up hair growth)
Taking essential fatty acids like Flaxeed Oil daily
Eliminating white sugar &amp; soft drinks
Having a good, balanced diet

Which conditioners do you use on your hair, that replaces traditional moisturizers?

All of what the other ladies said plus:

Biotin
MSM
Protein Shakes
Evening Primrose oil
Silica Plus
Multi vitamin

I use Miss Keys 10 en 1 Super Rinse conditioner. I put it on my air dried hair the day after I wash it.

I've found that it makes my hair feel much better than S-curl or CDHHB (these two make my hair feel waxy in the long run), and it gives me added moisture after my leave-in soaks in.

I wonder if I could use my CatWalt Oatmeal and Honey Conitioer as a leave-in if I add some extra oils to it.

Thanks for responding Boadicea

I'm sure you can. You may want to try it with the oils and without.

I leave the conditioner in for two days at a time and then wash it out the next day and put it back in again.

where can I get miss Keys product?

I've found them at my local BSS.

If you're in NY, I can give you the addresses of some of the places.

You may be able to find it online, too if you try Google.

Hi Papismami

It looks like you've retained a good amount of length already, if your hair is at the top of your shoulder blades in back, collarbone in front. Do you use all of those products on the same day? Everyone's hair is different when it comes to protein (mine can take it every week, some every month, others fewer than that). But between your 4-5/week workouts (
up.gif
) and all that protein (e.g., Joico K-pak, infusium...is Biolage Fortifying shampoo a protein shampoo? Protein always comes to my mind when I see 'fortifying,' 'strengthening,' etc.) ...your hair might be extra-dry.

Have you tried distilled water? For workouts, you might try misting some on your hair so it's damp, not wet, and then put conditioner on your hair.

As for wrapping, some members have seen great results but I can only do it occasionally. My hair thrives better without it. It had thinned out one side of my hair while I was faithfully wrapping my hair nightly, for years, thinking I was doing something good for my hair's health.
ohwell.gif

Finally, I stopped relying on Aveda products. I found them to be drying, especially the conditioners. I like Elasta QP, Suave Professionals, Aubrey Organics, Herbal Essences Fruit Fusions, J/A/S/O/N, and Elucence as moisturizing rinse-out/leave-in conditioners. I've finally joined those who rave about the moisturizing properties of honey. I like to mix it with whatever conditioner, add EVOO, and nuke it in the microwave for a few secs (thanks, Peachtree
wink.gif
) for a great pre-shampoo treatment.
