Emu oil.....who uses it?

I bought some last year then forgot why. Then I started using it in my homemade CH DC. Haven't used it since then.

I use it, I mix it in with my MSM & MN concoction. It's supposed to be a carrier oil that penetrates deeper than most carrier oils...so it's carrying the MSM & MN deeper into my scalp!!!

It comes from an Emu which is a big bird similar to an ostrich...I grew up in PNG (near Australia) so we had such birds!

I tried it an was just not that impressed plus my son pointed out that a bird had to die to get the oil. So I use jojoba, grapeseed, avocado, and others, and I'm happy with the results. I say leave the poor birds alone. :ohwell: Squeeze a seed, not a bird for oil... :look:

I bought a gallon of Emu Oil for about 200 bucks, and intended on using it strictly for my skin. I used it for the first time on my hair last night after I co-washed, and I think I like the sweet almond oil, castor oil and coconut oils better on my hair than the emu oil. It left my hair feeling just "okay" but I LOVE it for my skin. I slather it on at night all over my body, concentrating on my face, neck and chest area. My skin is flawless(almost).:yep:

I use it off and on, more for my face than hair. (its ok for my hair, but I can't say I loved it)

Atlanta JJ, The companies that manufacture the oil also sell emu meat. Emu meat is quite lean (does not taste like chicken!:lachen:) and the oil is more or less a by product of their meat manufacturing.

So they're not just killing to get the oil, unlike what they do to those unfortunate olives.

(animal life and plant life are all on the same scale to me; and I eat both:yep:)

I LOVE emu oil!!! My scalp used to be tight and unforgiving before I started using it but every since I started using it my scalp is nice and loose and hydrated. I also use it on my face, no one ever guesses my age. :D It's a STAPLE!! :yep:

I saw it at Whole Foods and I remembered that some folks used it, but I couldn't remember why, so I left it right on the shelf. :lachen:

Well since you put it that way. My son just couldn't understand and I didn't have a good explaintion for him at the time. I'll pass this info along to him.

I know I tried it on my hair and it was just like not that special for me. Perhaps I'll use the little I have left on my legs or something.

I agree with you about plant life and animal life with regards to food, I didn't realize they were making emu burgers...Emu's are so cute though...:look: See chickens, just aren't cute! LOL

I use it mainly on my hairline mixed with Castor oil after Surging with good results.
I use on my face when I get dry patches-Emu Oil has been a lifesaver for dry skin.

I have been advised that this may help with a damaged sensitive slow-growing spot on my scalp. Anyone still using this? Please share results.

TIA ladies.

I use it, but I don't think it's done anything spectacular for me to repurchase:nono:

I Paid 9 Ga-Zillion, Trillion Dollars for about 2-4 oz's.:lachen:

I can't remember which, but it was a small amount? So probably 2 ounces?

But, I felt it was too expensive for such a tiny amount to actually put on my hair, and see any long term benefits and I just started using it on my face.

I probably won't repurchase it.:nono:

I wish it didn't cost so much.:perplexed

- I've used it for skin and in massages. I've included it in the mix when I make my own suger scrubs.

- I also like to use it on my hair with good results, I would apply it to the ends about 20 min before flat ironing. (I have thin, fine, texlaxed hair); it does not weigh my hair down.

I bought some for my hair. It moisturized/softened really well, a little goes a long way on my fine relaxed hair. But I'm heavy handed so I always ended up using too much. I literally had it running down my face once while I was out at a movie. So that made it impractical for me. I do however use it regularly on my skin and scalp. I use it for the first week after a relaxer on my scalp. And if I could find a version with sunscreen (ha!) I would use it exclusively on my face.

Most people that I have heard of using it, use it for their skin. I have a friend with excema (sp) and it does really well for her. I think if you have dry scalp or other issues it would be good for that as well.

Little baby chicks are adorable!

I've been using it on my thinned edges. I'm on a three month challenge and have seen great progress :)

Thanks for posting, especially those using it on thinning spots, it gives me hope for my 'in need of serious help' spot.

I use a conditioner that contains emu oil, and I can't believe how WONDERFUL it makes my hair feel (incredibly soft and very easy to detangle). It's definitely a wow conditioner.

^^^which conditioner is this?
