ELASTa QP DPR 11 Sucks

I just think it's one of those things where it doesn't work well for everyone's hair. My hair absolutely hates both the Elasta QP mango butter and the DPR. Left my hair feeling like straw and unmanageable. But my friend used the DC and loved it and had no negative affects with the mango butter. And I know a lot of women on this site swear by both the mango butter and the DPR so I can't hate on it. It just didn't work for me :nono:.

P.S. It caused breakage in my hair, too. The comb just didn't glide through my hair and it kept getting caught in tangly parts, even while wet and with conditioner, and it caused my hair to snag and break.

I didn't like it either. I have yet to find a EQP product that worked for me.

I agree with ya on the bolded. Every EQP product I have tried left my hair a HAM even after clarifying and trying to doctor it up. Un Un :nono: I won't go near this stuff, my hair hates it.

I tell you what.

Anybody who has Mango Butter or DPR-11 that you hate and want to get rid of, you can throw it my way cuz I LURVES them both!!

Either you love or hate those two products. There is no middle ground for it.

I haven't tried this particular conditioner, but I have a number other of their products that have worked great for me including their setting lotion, shampoo(sulfate free, good replacement for CON), their glaze and feels like silk styling gel....I was looking forward to tryng this out & their mango butter (who likes that??)....I shall proceed with caution...

I do ! :yep:

I hated it too. I didn't like the mango butter either but the breakage treatment is nice as is their shampoo for relaxed hair.

I feel the same way about ORS replenishing pak - the worst DT i ever used :-D. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
DPR had a pleasant smell but did nothing special as far as I could tell. I finished it up and don't plan to repurchase. Ever.

The first time I used this I left it in for a week (baggy'd) and my hair has been a different (more manageable) head of hair ever since. I don't think that I could have reached optimal moisture levels without.

I don't use it to detangle so no issues with breakage and I could care less about its lack of slip. Great stuff!

Yup. Thats what happened. My hair also hates the Mango butter the smell of mango butter makes me sick.

HATED IT

...that stuff was like a placebo product sitting on my hair, nothing was in there.

I'm wondering if the folks who had problems with it have either type 3 or fine hair. Cuz the jungle on top of my dome  it some DPR 11. It's one of the few products that did well on both my natural and relaxed hair.

I thought that as well. I notice that a lot of people with either thick strands or with hair mostly in the 4's love the mango butter and DPR :yep:. But there may be people in the 3's or 3/4's or with fine hair that like it. I'm just not one of them :nono:.

I USE TO HATE IT TOO!

I bought this stuff after it was raved about. I put it on like regular conditioner and my hair knotted up something fierce it was horrible and DRY. Thank goodness I had found TJ's Nourish Spa that melted away the knotts.

So I saw folks were doing deep conditions on dry hair. So I pulled this crap back otu just to see what would happen. I put this stuff on my DRY HAIR and it was immediately easier to detangle with my hands. I left it on w/o heat, but using a plastic cap for about about 2-3 hours just around the house. When I went to wash it out my hair was sooo SOFT and just not tangled. It is not my detangling conditioner my TJ's Nourish SPa is, but my hair was just like BUTTER!

So I love this stuff now. I just had to learn how to use it.

I personally :love: Elasta QP DPR-11. So far it is the only dc i really use and I might add some stuff, but even without adding anything I could use it straight. I think the key is to not try and detangle with it, it's not for that purpose. Unless you're adding things to give it slip like honey, water and some oils. Maybe even aloe vera juice (food grade).

I would like to try another dc - something natural that offers superior moisture. I have AO Honey and I will try that by itself to see. But if any natural heads have any other suggestions, I'm all ears

LOL! At this thread. Yeah.

My hair loves DPR-11, but hates mango butter. I don't use it to detangle though, that's what my cheap conditioners (Herbal Essences) is for. I use it with heat for about 30 minutes. My hair feels sooo soft and pretty when I rinse it out.

LMy hair also loves ORS Replenishing Pack, but HATES HATES HATES KeraCare Humecto and NTM Deep Recovery Mask.

My hair loves regular Pantene too.

Usually my hair responds horribly to products, rarely they work well, but this felt like nothing at all. NOTHING. It was really pointless, I wouldnt even say I would mix it with something beacuse it would be pointless to mix something with NOTHING.

this is exactly what happened to me, I will not repurchase but I did find out how to use it on my hair...

I love this product. It really got my hair in shape when I had serious heat damage. I used it weekly for a couple of months. Maybe you should give it another try using heat.
