Dry Hair and Product Overkill

Hi Ladies--
I need your suggestions once again. I washed my hair yesterday and it feels really soft- but dry. I used Motions CPR - b/c my ends are breaking and Aveda moisturizing Deep conditioner. Then I used Infusim Leave in and Paul Mitchell cream I also used UBH dew- a lot of it.... I think I may have gone a little product crazy /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Anway- do you all think I should rinse it out, wash it, condition wash - or just wait a few days and try again??? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Maybe try moisturizing again with a different product and then try washing it again in a few days. Since you used so many products this last time, maybe a conditioner wash may help (to restore shine and luster). Before the wash (however you decide to do it), perhaps a hot oil treatment will help. But deep condition again but with a moisturizing conditioner alone. HTH.

Sometimes when you have product build up on the hair it can feel like dryness even tho it isn't. The best course of action in these situations is to use a clarfiying shampoo and then just one conditioner and leave in or setting lotion you know and love. Wash again whenever you want - IMO the build up will hurt the hair more than another wash will.

I think you're right. I was going to suggest a clarifying shampoo but I wasn't sure because sometimes they can dry the hair out. I use Dax Vegetable Oil Shampoo and I highly recommend it. It is a gentle clarifying shampoo that doesn't strip the hair or leave it dry like others. I used to use Suave's clarifying shampoo and it was very drying.

you probably need to to put oil in your hair as a finisher, especially to seal the ends. Especcially in these freezing weather months. Im having the same problem with my hair, it comes out really soft and bouncy, but still has a dryness to it, so I have to oil my hair every day and night, so my ends wont comletely split off. I use Hollywood beauty carrot oil in the liquid. My hair doesnt look greasy , it has a nice shine to it.

The Infusium leave in maybe be the culprit. People have complained that it dried their hair out...mine did too.

.........Hada has a good point it could be the Infusium, it has way too much protein for regular use, too much protein drys out your hair. You shoud try another leave in conditioner.

I don't doubt that it dried out your hair, but it hasn't done that for me. Using it with two moisturizers should have countered that problem, if it did exist.

Someone suggested using oil/moisturizer after the rollerset, which I do, and that may help also.

Infusium 23 doesn't have protein in it. Maybe it's just the cold, dry winter air that is causing the dryness.

Here are the ingredients in Infusium 23...

Directions:
Use Infusium 23 Shampoo to cleanse hair and smooth worn cuticles. Rinse and towel dry. Spray and massage Infusium 23 Leave-In Treatment throughout hair. Do not over-wet. Comb through making sure ends are treated. Do not rinse out. Style as desired.

Ingredients:
Water, Amodimethicone, Panthenol, PPG-2 Methyl Ether, Polyquaternium-11, Fragrance, Polysorbate 80, Aminoethylpropanol, Tallowtrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Dimethicone Copolyol, Nonoxynol-10, Methylisothiazolinone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone

Crysdon i thought that infusium DID have protein in it... /images/graemlins/confused.gif My bottle lists a lot more ingredients though, I have the one for dry hair.
It has arginine, and all these other "nines" in it, and those are all proteins (i think, well i hope!)

I DO use the Infusim for dry hair. Next time I wash I will leave that out- and see what happens.
