Let me start of with I don't like to use the word hater, so lets just call her a raggedy delusional beaach.

There's this girl, I kinda see her as a family relative because our mums are real close and were neighbours back home. So she's a 'fake' cousin, I suppose. Anyway her hair grows fast, it's always mid back length. Recently she's noticed the improvement in my hair. I told her I henna weekly, and I regurlarly oil my hair. I thought I might aswell ask her for her regime because she's got long healthy hair. She's a similar hairtype to me aswell, so I did plan to use whatever she's using lol. Anyhuuu she tells me she does nothing. I'm like huh.. but your hair is long.. you don't do anything? She smiles and says nope.. I just wash it a lot. I looked at her hair, and it looked moisturised. Who is this beast trying to fool. Anyway So I just sit there and :yep: .. I ask One more time, saying Oh really.. you use nothing. She then gives a *sigh and says well after I wash, I just put serum on but that's it.

Anyhuuu then she startes telling me how I shouldn't henna, and if I ever put oil on I should wash it after an hour because oil blocks moisture. Best not to use oil at all. She then tells me that I don't need to do all this stuff for my hair to grow.. I just need to drink milk. Huh, did she just say milk? This girl is retarded. I'm trying to grow my hair, not my bones.

I just gave her the side eye :look: and took out my phone, said I had to make a call. I was calling my voicemail. I'd rather hear an automatic operator, than that mutated living thing.

Anyone had something similar? Where someone just gives you bad advice. on purpose.

It doesn't sound like she was trying to be rude, just stating her opinion. You can show her better than you can tell her; your hair will continue to grow longer and healthier :yep:.

You don't think she was being rude??

She was trying to get me to walk around with DRY hair, and a milk carton.

The woman is evil.

Welllll to be honest we dont have to do anything to our hair to "make it grow". It does that on its own, its what we do it to retain the hair on our head that will keep it there.

She was saying drink milk to be healthy which in turn will keep your hair growing optimally.

She does not understand the whole concept of moisturizing and sealing with oils. She does this just with serum.

:yep: All of my "real" cousins do the same thing. Shoot, everyone in my family has long hair but me and they all keep it a secret.

Hahahaha....I know what you talking about.

I sometimes ask people with long healthy hair what do they do and majority say "Oh nothing" like for them having long hair was effortless.

My ex-friend had really long hair and when she saw my hair getting thicker and longer, she told me I shouldn't co-wash anymore cause my hair will fall out. She also said i'm not puerto rican so I need to stop rocking co-washes (my ends would get curly) cause i'm not fooling no one.

ANYHUU (:D) I felt like she was just use to getting all the attention cause she was the friend with long hair and now that my hair is getting long...she's telling me co-washing is bad and not combing my hair every day is bad....pretty much knocking down all my good hair practices I got from here down. I said blah blah blah blah....beeeach watever. Lol

This is too funny. I dont think she was trying to be rude either. You asked a question.and she gave you an answer. She might be telling the truth. Just keep doing what your doing. Then when your hair is longer than hers and shes asking you about your reggie you can give her the same kind of simple a$$ answer lol.

I'd like to add she's got oil stashed in her room.

Ya'll are giving her the benefit of the doubt.

What is this... I came in here for support, not to hear from people she's just naive. OH COME ON. Do I have to wait for her to stab me, for Ya'll to believe this is real hate.

Lawwd have mercy. :pullhair:

Finally someone who gets me.

I know...

Gurl.. come ere

First of all OP, you are the funniest poster I've seen on here since I've joined. Absolutely hilarious. Just wanted to mention that before I forgot lol...

Anyway, you know her and we don't, which is why the other posters are so quick to give her the benefit of the doubt (what a loving bunch of women we are lol). However, clearly you feel that she has some hating tendencies, so that's the lens you're viewing her comments through. I feel you. I have some folks like that in my life too- to the world they seem all loving and concerned, but because you know them, you know they're really the spawn of the devil.

Keep growing your lovely head of hair, and really give her something to hate on. Just my 2 cents.

I feel your pain. I had a co worker with long hair and I asked about her routine. She said that she uses cheap products and nothing special. So I left it as that but noticed that co-washes all the time and rarely uses heat. So she was being really honest and her "secret" was good hair practices.

ITA with everything you said, especially me being the funniest here. *giggle* I'm just kidding.
not really, I laugh at all my jokes.

Yeah.. you guys don't know her, since that's where the benefit of the doubt is coming from. Since we were little girls she's always competed with me. I guess it hurts her, that the one thing she always beat me at (hair) I'm coming for it.. Yeaaah baby

wait...did you say she has oils stashed in her room? lol

LOL....well maybe you can tell she's evil based on other conversations....it's just that from what I read, you asked her for her regimen. I kind of feel like once you engage people in a hair conversation in real life, there's no telling what they might say.

A black lady working at Sephora told me to try some kind of oil by Phyto because my edges looked thin :ohwell:. My hair is clearly very thick and my edges are very full, but that's what I get for asking for a product recommendation.

exactly!

The thing is some people really don't have to do much for their hair to grow and be healthy. Many times it's the things they don't do as well. My sister for example, has always had very long, thick healthy hair; however unlike me, she doesn't do all kinds of experiments with color or heat, and for many years had a curly perm which was always moisturized ( not the dripping messy kind) and basically just shampooed, conditioned and kept moisture on her hair, sometimes roller set~ that's it. But if you sense that someone is trying to sabotage you, it's like a person who wants to lose weight but their skinny "friend" is always trying to get them to eat ( or even the heavy "{friend's" will do this) like someone else mentioned, since you know her, the intentions would be more obvious from where you are sitting.

A few years ago I asked a relative with midback relaxed hair where was the stylist she had been going to for TEN years since her hair looked so good (recently realxed) She said the woman had moved and she didn't have the address (remember just relaxed) Then said her stylist used Mizani and it wasn't for everybody. Now If that wasn't trying to play coy I don't know what is! Before LHCF I used Perm Repair and Blue Magic grease every 2 weeks (still seal with the magic)

How hard is it to go thru routine?????

why do people do this? They refuse to tell you about hair/skin/weight practices when asked or just flat out lie about it. I guess im just different, if someone ask me about hair (or anything) im all over it and ready to disscuss!

Washing often and sealing with a good serum seems like a good reggie to me. You don't have to use 50-11 products to retain length. Everyone's hair is different and this very well may be her regimen. After I co-wash I can just use my joico serum and my hair would thrive...but alas I love my different leave-ins and castor oil too much to abandon them!

:lachen: OP I can sympathize with you 100%. You see these girls with extra beautiful hair and they're like, "oh I don't do anything to it, just wash with regular shampoo.. I don't even condition everyday, and I seal with Vaseline :look: .. that's how I get my butt length locks"... now that may work for SOME, but then you get a peak into their hair stash you see some rare salon brand shampoo found only in Italy.. deep conditioner freakin' mixed by the queen of Narnia and 10 different Indian oils to seal :lachen: ... some people just don't like sharing hair advice, unless you pry it outta them.. *le sigh*

LOL, OP you're hilarious.

But from your first post, it doesn't seem like she's being rude at all. You asked her, she told you. Maybe it's just not what you expected. Some of the things she said could be true:

- If you don't use oils properly, they can block out moisture to some extent.
- you don't need to henna and oil for your hair to grow
- Drinking more milk would probably contribute to your hair growth.

Errrm... if she's got oils stashed in her room though, that might be a bit suspect. Maybe she uses them for her skin??

Frankly, I don't wanna make you mad, but she has a point. Without realizing what she is doing, she is moisturizing a lot (washed it a lot) and using a serum which probably has a little protein in it as well as some cones which are smoothing the cuticle of her hair. she also seems to have a "leave it alone" attitude which is a regimen unto itself. Take what she is saying as a science experiment. But know this: oils are never bad for the hair. The oils most people use on here have the capacity to penetrate and fill in the hair shaft and give it suppleness.

i do this because sometimes you just want something to yourself. i grew up in a small city and seeing your shirt on 50 different girls isnt uncommon. so if someone asks me where i got my outfit id lie through my teeth but if someone asks about my hair i dont mind because after i tell that all that i do they never do it anyways lol

OK I just busted out laughing!!! Hysterical!!!!!!!!!

BTW some people do nothing and still have long hair. My DD does not DC, she doesn't put a satin bonnet at night, I co-wash her hair with whatever, no trimming, no NADA. Her hair is tailbone. If I did all that I'd be bald. I'm not one of those lucky people.

ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm sorry but it's funny. The alternative to calling her a hater was funny and so was the milk & dry hair. You could always take the carton and pour the milk over your hair for protein looooooooool. Ok but on the real... It doesn't seem she was being rude. When I was relaxed and didn't do really anything and the stuff I did do was stuff we deem as "wrong" my hair was sooooo healthy. Now I do what's right but eh it's a hassle to get an inch... Different strokes 4 diff folks

LOL! I didn't know women actually do this... I will say though, unless I'm on the hair boards I don't really give out my regi in detail because 99% of the time people don't listen anyway so it's a waste of my energy to go into detail. Some oils can dry out your hair by blocking moisture and they can be drying, like MO, but we usually know to use more beneficial oils. She wasn't exactly wrong, just probably didn't know - what kind of oil is she hiding?!?!?!

I didn't know ppl actually try to fake on chicks and their hair care....dang!

Girl we do support all our cousins, but by being a supporting cousin, we are not always going to agree.

dont be so melodramatic she is not going to stab you. LOL

Some people dont like to share any information about anything: where they get there sneakers or anything. Keep doing what you are doing if it works for you. Thats that

Funny you should say this, when I was natural I did this ( I also put a hibiscus/shikakai/amla tea on top) and let it dry. Rinsed and voila a lovely head of shiney coils that hardly needed moisture for the week.
