Dominican Salons and Dry scalp

Hi ladies. Since I've begun going to Jaselvis, a Dominican Salon in Silver Spring Maryland, I have had terrible dandruff. I get the 10 en 1 conditioner, but I am assuming that conditioner is for the actual hair, not the scalp. Any ideas on what I should have them to do to rid me of this problem? I have a friend who has noticed the same about her scalp. She's convinced that it's the actual products, but I've used most of the products at home with no problem. TIA

Which blow dryer? The hood one or handheld one? Does it affect the quality of your blowout? I've been sitting there like a fool getting burnt up b/c I want my roots to be bone straight. The joke is on me b/c my edges continue to be coarse no matter how much burning I endure. LOL But seriously, last time, I wanted to cry. If I can get the same results w/ a lower temp., I'll gladly tell them to turn it down. Thanks.

I do blowouts at home and my scalp is always dry. What I do is just apply some jojoba oil lightly to the scalp. That cures the problem

It's from the blowdryer and the brush that they use. I've had the same experience myself. The brush scratching your scalp and the heat combined can cause dry scalp. I don't get my hair blown out that often, so I can't offer any good advice on how to prevent this from happening. Definitely ask them to turn down the heat!

I must be the heat. I did my own this weekend and a did not straighten the roots very much, but my scalp was dry and a little flakly. Normally, my scalp is really oily.

The blowdryer. I was crying and in a cold sweat the first time they blowdried my hair. Now, they know I would rather walk out of that salon with nappy roots than endure torture. So they blowdry my hair on medium heat with a paddle brush. I don't sit under the dryer with rollers.

Imani, other than the dry scalp are you happy with the results you get? I've been wanting to make an appointment at this salon for quite some time now and I think if I can squeeze it in this week, I will. What's the price of the blowout and how long does the service usually take from start to finish? Also, do you see anyone in particular or just whoever is available when you get there? Thanks in advance!
