Im just curious since i always knew them to use the roundbrush and was surprised that the woman used a fine tooth comb to blow out the roots the last time i visited the salon... I was thinking maybe i will try this at home..I actually think the blowout with the fine tooth comb might be less damaging but im not sure.. any insight?

Nope doesnt hurt... But think about all the pulling with the boar bristle brush. But im just speaking with regard to the potential for damage really.

I've had my roots blown out with a fine tooth comb. I actually found it less stressful than the round brush. I had this done professionally when I was relaxed. I have also done it myself at home since I've been natural. Being gentle is key. Also, I have purchased various sizes of rat tail combs. I start out with the wider comb and finish with smailler.

when i get blow outs at Dominican salons they sometimes use fine tooth combs (depending on the stylist) the last time i got a blow out the lady used a fine tooth comb and it came out great

I found it less stressful too and it gets the roots just as straight... Come to think of it i use a fine tooth come weekly anyway... So i will try this at home next time i need my roots straightened.... Thanks ladies

It's not the comb or brush...it's the high heat!:burn::burning::cantlook::imo::giggle: Y'all see smoke coming out of the blow dryers!

both on damaging cause they are combined with the blow torch....i mean blow dryer lol. how much damage you would get would depend on how often you go to them and also your hairs density, thickness and texture. they broke my hair hair off in less than 3 months and the texture was like brillo....i had substantial thinning in the crown area (they used a round brush on me). my hair is quite dense, neither thick nor thin and my strands are meduim density.i was taking my own products (redken) and going to them weekly cause i didn't know any better. they kept bugging me about getting a relaxer, thank goodness i didn't do it. i had just moved to nyc and had previously had a great hairstylist in virginia. some don't use much heat and use flatirons but they are far and few btw. i don't think its worth it to save a few bucks for some swanging hurr, lol.

I think it may be less stressful for the hair. The brush has more bristles to gain more control over the hair. More control=more pulling.

I would think it depends on the stylist technique and if they know what they are doing. I have heard good and bad results from using a fine tooth comb. I love getting the Dominican blow out, nothing makes my hair soo soft and with so much shine!
