Does Your Hair Grow Out And Not Down? Come In And Stay Awhile

@prettybyrd can you post pictures thru the years? Whats your routine like? How do you normally wear your hair?

Oh lawd...lol! Years worth of pics! :) I will check for pics once I get home. I usually wear my hair in plaits/halo braids these days, I don't wear my hair out/curly much anymore. When I was wearing the WNG my routine was typically to co-wash, use a cream and styler and allow it to air dry. I never took many selfies because I suck at it, but I'm sure I can find something.

@shawnyblazes Yes it does. It wasn't until I BC'd that I realized how much shrinkage I truly had... I wasn't ready  lol. I feel like I'll have to grow my hair to my knees in order for my natural hair to show some length.

I plan on straightening my hair tomorrow to trim. I toy with the idea of being a straight haired natural, but then again I'm lazy and my patience with my hair these days is low.

Yep. But my stylist trims/cuts it so that it falls down more instead of going up and out. Other than styling, that's probably the main way to get your hair to hang down. It creeps back up as it grows out so it's not a permanent solution either.

No I don't have any pics lol.

@shawnyblazes I've been doing two strand twists, but because my hair shrinks so much, it doesn't really stretch it enough. Idk what else to do with my hair at this point outside of straightening to show length.
Take your twist and band them with pantyhose or something else. You can do it in groups. It will give you at least a little more hang time.

Im not yet shoulder length but my hair looks the same as it did when I was ear length. When I wear a twist out it doesn't even reach the bottom of my ears.

Letting it dry in some stretched state, then applying oil and retwisting or braiding to stretch some more helps. Banding my twist helps. Usually curlformers definitely helps.

I'm hoping when I reach APL my curlformer set will reach the top of my shoulders. I will see where I am in December.

Yes, this is me, too. Every picture I take I seem to be pulling down that same section, on the same side. My hair sits on my shoulders. Even if I stretched it, my hair creeps back to my shoulders. If I leave it loosened through the day, it draws up to my cheeks and ears.

@shawnyblazes,
I ventured into your instagram. THAT BEAUTIFUL, living doll looking baby is soooooooo gorgeous!

Is that your baby?

I wanted to also add that the only thing that gets my hair to hang beautifully is a heavy, hot, metal pressing comb or iron. Plug in electric, flat irons get my hair straight but it is not the same. I realized that I just don't like the results, even when a professional does the flat ironing.

I like old school pressing. My hair is silky. The hair in my avatar is pressed with an old school heavy, hot, hair-singeing, test-on-white-rag-or- white-paper-towel-to-determine -the temperature, metal , pressing comb!

Thank you. Hes just as precious and quite a b lessing to me. @Chicoro

I thought every curly head grew out until it reach a length where it was too heavy and it had to start drooping. I guess I learn something new every day.
I thought my hair would drop. The funny thing is the back looks shorter than the front, which is not the case. My hair circles my head in a halo. With heat, it flops a little but it still only sits on my shoulders.

Hi lovelies,

Does anyone hair defy gravity? No matter how long it gets, it still sits on your shoulders?
OMG, this describes my hair perfectly. I have used all type of stretching techniques and it still ends up to my ears and my hair is about an inch away from WL. I guess straightening is the only way I will enjoy some length, but I haven't straightened my hair since 2012 and I don't plan on straightening it until I graduate in May 2018.

Hey, I like to wrap my twists around my head after I install twists. I got that idea from Naptural and it definitely works to give your twists some stretch. Even if you can't wrap your twists around your head, just stretch them as far as you can and pin it to your head. Give that a try!

Yeah. I guess I better accept it and let it be lol.
