Mine grows down. It's always had a tendency to flop rather than stand up.

Mine grows out. I'm attaching pictures of what it looks like stretched (finger detangled thoroughly and braidout) and after the humidity hit my hair and it shrank. You can see my hair likes to go up unless manipulated. The picture with sunglasses is stretched.

Hey, I like to wrap my twists around my head after I install twists. I got that idea from Naptural and it definitely works to give your twists some stretch. Even if you can't wrap your twists around your head, just stretch them as far as you can and pin it to your head. Give that a try!

I actually saw a friend do this and do it when I need to run out but not with a bonnet

I don't know but from what I've observed, as your hair gets longer it begins to grow down.
