Whenever my new growth comes my ends get wild and tangle up which I then have to trim off. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this. I was trying to hold off on trimming to every other retouch but my ends get so tangled up that they eventually break
I agree with Norma moisture is key, and you should gently detangle your hair with a W I D E tooth comb and a leave in that gives good slip. You should not have to trim unless you have split ends.
My hair used to do that, but I'm only at week 7 post relaxer and my hair usually would tangle during washing by this time but Keracare cond keeps my hair so soft and detangled even after I rinse. Also, I agree you MUST keep your ends moisturized. I use Lustrasilk moisturizing spray, it's AWESOME!!!
Thanks for the advice The strange thing about my hair is that I do moisturize my ends ALL the time and I wear protective hair styles 90% of the times. As soon as I get 2 inches or more of new growth, my ends get wild and uneven to the point that if I don't trim they willl break and cause split ends. They tangle up when wet not dry. I was curious if I was the only one with untameable ends
Miosy, u are not the only one. I recently experienced tangles when I decided to transtition. I kept my hair moisturized religiously, protected the ends, oiled them at night, wore protective styles, but it got to where I just decided to cut my permed hair. I couldn't deal with the tangles anymore and I needed to rid of the split ends before they created further damage.
It's good that u keep your hair well moisturized, but the only way to get rid of splits is to remove them. Also, make sure u detangle from the bottom up, not from the roots on down and use a wide tooth comb.
miosy. yep that sounds like my hair! I'm not sure how to combat this, I use really detangling condits (LUST, profectiv growth masque, pantene) when this happens and dry my hair in a rollerset to "separate" the strands and prevent tangling during the week. Just be extra gentle with your hair. I'm also a frequent trimmer BTW.
