Does New Jersey have hard water?

TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I just got back from Atlantic City and my hair just did not respond well to the water. I ended up wearing a humongous puff because my hair looked crazy in the twists I tried to rock. I think I have a little heat damge in some sections when I tried to straiten my hair. After clarifying and Dcing my hair feels back to normal. I am twisting my hair as I type. It was just weird how my hair acted. I'm slowly clipping away the heat damaged ends. I'm going to be on a no heat use as well as the protective style challenge.

As far as I know, we do not have hard water. Are you sure it wasn't from the humidity and sea (salt) water? Some have reported having problems with sea water will others said it was great for their hair.

I didn't go in the water, but when I washed my hair, it acted up really bad. I was just wondering if it was something wrong with the water.

If you live within any city limits there is stuff in the water. I'd get a water filter anyway. Someone tried to tell me NY didn't have hard water, well what is all of that crap that my filter catches that turns it black? Whatever it is when I don't use that water filter my hair got hard and dry and tangly.

I was at a hotel in Atlantic City and my hair suffered four days. Now I am back in twists. I clarified and DCD and it went back to normal. If I go back, I will stay in twists and will not wash my hair.:look:

Cosigning with empressri... Many hotels have hard water... Think back to when you took a shower. Did you need to use lotion after? Did the water have a sticky feel or dry feel? Most cities have hard water it just depends on the part. Here's a hard water map http://www.kenmorewater.com/website/water-facts-and-testing/water-facts/map-what-is-hard-water.htm but u can't always go by that either. Maybe whenever you travel take some spray shampoo or foam shampoo. taaliah waajid, african pride, ors, & tressemme make some

I always have to use lotion after a shower and this has been in 7 countries across 4 continents. I don't think hard/soft water affects the bolded
