Does Keratin

make curls tighter? I ask because I just used Aphoghee intensive 2 minute keratin reconstructor (WHEW! A MOUTHFUL) and my new growth is tigher and HARDER to detangle. So, since keratin repairs bonds, is it plausible that part of the repair process would be to strengthen the coils, making them tighter?

I don't thik it TIGHTENS curls per se...but all proteins for the most part (and Keratin in particular) harden the cuticle layer. As a result the hair is a little less pliable, and that's probably why your hair is harder to detangle.

Did you use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards? I notice that if I use a good conditioner afterwards detangling isn't a prbblem.

New growth that hasn't been relaxed still has those strong protein bonds, since i hasn't been broken down by a relaxer yet. So if you are putting keratin on your new-growth I would think they would be EXTRA strong...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing Denali, and yes Cheer, I used used moisturizing, but my new growth is those tight pen springy coils so there really is no detangling....I don't even try
