Does it make you cringe

No.

I laugh sometimes depending on how bad they look with the whole outfit put together. It doesn't phase me one bit though because as long as I don't walk around in public looking like a bag lady, I'm cool. :look:

no, not really. but of course i run around with my silk scarf on a lot and that seems to erk people, so maybe that's why it doesnt bother me lol

Well sometimes if I have to make a quick run to the grocery store I wear a scarf. I just don't see the point doing my hair if I'm going to be out for at the most ten minutes. :/

I don't care.

Prolly cuz I wear my silk scarf if I need to flatten my edges before I get to an event, lol.

NO SHAME OVA HERE!!!

What does make me cringe is seeing chicks walkin about town with curlers or showercaps on....

somehow...to me...a scarf is NOT the same as the baggie look....dunno, i just don't see it the same way...I'd RATHER see the scarf that the baggie. JM2C

See that is what I thought she was speaking about...the showercaps...UGH

i've secretly worn shower caps lol. i was dc'ng and there was an emergancy that i had to tend to.... so i slapped on a cotton due rag over the shower cap and then my silk scard over that (the scarf wouldnt stay on the shower cap or i would have left that step out) and out the door i ran lol. needless to say, once everything calmed down and i got home to rinse my hair, it was buttah!!! lmao. but i feel you on the shower cap alone.

my mom used to run around in rollers ALL THE TIME and only a hand full of times were they covered. when i was younger she used to make me play with my rollers on lmao (we air dried so roller sets for me was a weekend event). can you imagine an 8 y/o riding her bike in the street with a head full of rollers bigger than her own head :lachen::lachen::lachen:

YES. I just could never imagine leaving out my house like that (I'm talking about dingy scarves and huge bright satin bonnets) its different if its intentional or worn as a headband .

The best is when it has the lois vuitton or chanel logo:rofl::nono:

I think it's tacky :ohwell:. Run your errands before you wrap your hair up.

NEVER!!!!!! *runs to room and slaps on scarf and grabs car keys* :lachen::lachen::lachen:

i know, my friends hate seeing me out with my scarf. some of my scarves are pretty cute. but i cant lie, some should probably stay in the house and they dont.

the way i see it is the people who tend to give me the side eye are people with ate up hair. so if i have to look at your disappearing edges, then you can look at my 50-11 y/o scarf :lachen:

now what's really sad (and i kinda hate to admit this) is that i wont leave the house dressed crazy or with out my make up. so most times i'm in the scarf, i'm dressed, make up did and earrings on. so while sometimes the look pulls together, sometimes i probably dont look right with the scarf on lmao

Scarves don't bother me...because if I am home all day and I am making dinner and have run out of something...I will throw a scarf on in a heartbeat and run in the grocery to get something...Better that than me looking like a bushy all over my head mess...But then again...I don't care what complete strangers or people in general think of me to be honest

Not at all. I'm a college student and I've got more important things to worry about than what folks think when they look at me or what someone else is or isn't doing with their hair.

My bonnet may offend some but I'm definitely not going to do my hair for a 10 minute trip outside or get to fiddling with it for a stop at Walmart. It's about convenience, comfort, and the health of my hair. If I'm actually going somewhere where I really should look nice or make an attempt then certainly I will but I know for sure Finals Week it was silk bonnet and out the door.

No shame in my game. :yep:

LOL :lachen: that's how I feel when women wearing immaculate weaves try to give me the side-eye about my bonnet or if my hair isn't looking 100% on point. I always just think "I don't know who you looking at, we all know ain't nothing but a bald head under all that Asian weave"

Sometimes if I'm running to Kroger, I go out with my scarf on and don't realize I have it on until I inside the store....then I get mad at my bf for not telling me to take it off lol

But what is a SLEEPcap? I've never heard the term? Is it just a bonnet?

No, it doesn't bother me. I let folks look how they wanna look. As long as they don't try to put a sleepcap on me, i'm fine.:lachen:

:lachen:

Seriously though. I don't like to see grown women walking around the grocery store with dingy house slippers on. Please!

What I don't understand is why people can't plan their day. I mean, they don't wear their do-rag or sleep cap to work do they? Why don't they stop off at the grocery store on the way home? That's what I do and what most everyone else does too considering most everyone there is in their suits or business wear.

I don't understand going home, changing clothes, putting on a do-rag, encountering a culinary emergency that absolutely requires a trip to the store, and leaving with the do-rag on. lol That has never happened to me.

I don't get why a ponytail won't suffice? It takes 10 seconds to pull hair into a ponytail. That's too much effort? Entirely too much to go through? I don't put on my scarf until right before I go to bed, but I don't see why people can't put their hair in a ponytail/bun when plans change and they need to leave unexpectedly.

eh, maybe we're some lazy summa-muhs lol

:lachen::lachen:

Be lazy like me and stay home!! If I want to make spaghetti and then realize that I don't have any sauce...I'll just get some the next day. No way I'm making a 30 minute drive to the store just to get some spaghetti sauce. lol.

I think it is truly tacky. Ya don't have time to run a comb through it and put in a ponytail. Really? I don't go out the house with rags, bonnets nor pajama's and house shoes on. To me it is all about being a lady and a lady wouldn't do that IMHO.

Yet some will shout from the hill tops that they don't care, then on a normal day get a side eye from someone. That someone may have seen you looking all tacky up in the grocery store with a rag on your head. No thanks.

It's just me and how I carry myself and I wouldn't be caught dead or maybe I would be dead not looking right in public.

lol...this thread is cracking me up...I guess sometimes I don't feel like being a lady then....and besides that...as long as The man is not complaining on those rare occasions that I have put a scarf on I really don't care if Tanisha in aisle two is looking at me cross-eyed....Not to mention some of my scarfs..ok most of them cost as much of some peoples wigs and weaves...so it's all good...

In my husbands words to me all the time....People worry about the wrong things

:lachen::lachen::lachen: all i can promise is that i will try and use prettier scarves.... but i can not promise i'mma comb my mop. i like to let her be :lachen:

30 mins? sheesh! where the heck do you live!

You don't have to comb to wear a ponytail/bun, but, I appreciate your commitment to prettier scarves! You're on the honor system!

I don't know how much wigs/weaves cost, but if your scarves are more expensive there's a good chance you're not wearing do-rags. I don't have any problem with a pretty scarf. It's when it's stained, has holes and is tattered and torn that makes a person look homeless.

I choose not to look homeless. lol. I think that's a basic rule of life, don't look homeless. :lachen: But people can do what they want.

^^ I know right....I wouldn't make a 30 minute drive either...But I have at least ten grocery stores within a 1-5 radius ...not to mention countless convenience stores
