does hair toner wash out?

i had highlights about 8 weeks ago. i didn't like the color after awhile and had them toned down a little less than 2 weeks ago. i washed my hair, did a protein treatment and deep conditioned. i let it air dry 80% then blew it straight. it seems like my highlights are a bit brassy again. is that even possible? i could be trippin'; i have an interview tomorrow afternoon so i don't know if i'm just nervous.

i googled it and heard conflicting reports about whether it's permanent. some sites indicated it was permanent and wouldn't wash out while others said it would in 2-6 washes. i had my highlights done at aveda if it matters.

I believe most toners are similar to rinses if not the same thing so yes they do wash out. You can get a semi-permanent ash blond colour and put through to get your shade back, it lasts a bit longer than most rinses/toners.

Yes, they do. Even permanent color fade somewhat.
