Does hair growth really cause a sore scalp?

Hey you all, some of you will know a lot better than I, but here is my question. I have been transitioning since June with a decent amount of new growth. I take MSM, Nioxin, Viviscal, and Silica (I know it sounds like a lot, but the amount doesn't even phase me now) and all has been going well. Over the past 2-3 weeks, however, I've noticed that my scalp has been really tender. It's not bad enough that I am in constant throbbing pain, but I do notice it when I touch my head or if I lay my head against the back of a chair, for example. In reading some of these posts, some of you attribute a sore head to increased hair growth. Is this really true? Have a lot of you out there experienced this? Just give a sista a little insight, please.

I have. My temples have been sore and I see little baby hurrs in that area. Sometimes I think that I'm pulling my ponytails too tight (it's really not) but it's actually the hair growing.

My crown grows faster than the rest of my hair and I have experienced soreness when the hair is growing.

I am not sure that a sore scalp occurs when you are experiencing growth spurts. I have never had a growth spurt. my hair grows evenly every month and i have tried it all, from mtg, surge, mn etc. When i started experiencing the scalp soreness, some of my hair fell out. i have fully transitioned natural. i got a full body check so its nothing physical that caused my hair to come out. my doc thinks its all the things that i used that irritated my scalp. if the scalp is inflamed it can feel tender. but it also doesnt necessarily mean something is wrong but just another side to the story. you can relax your scalp with essential oils. whenever i feel the soreness i apply tea tree oil and lavender over night and when i wake its no longer sore.

what do you think ladies?
