Does Anyone Else Hate That Freshly Relaxed..

Limp hair feeling?? What can I do to bring some life back into it??

I got a touch up last night after being 14 weeks and it came out great. Bone straight but jeez it feels sorta thin and I hate that feeling, I want my thickness back! Is this even normal? I guess it's been so long since my hair has been bone straight.

I did made me feel all bald headed and like I lot hair compared to what my new growth was like. Glad I stopped.

When I was relaxed, I hated that freshly relaxed look too and I would wash my hair after 2 or 3 days after getting my hair relaxed so it could bring life into my hair. I would always say, that the first wash after getting a relaxer is the best.

After stretching for 14 weeks, it's normal for you to feel like your hair is thin after a fresh relaxer. I love how I can easily run my fingers through my hair, but hate the limpness!

I usually enjoy the fabulous swang for a day or two then wash/air dry and it plumps back up. I concentrate on enjoying my relaxed hair and know that all too soon, I'll be back to battling newgrowth!

yep when I was relaxed I used to run condish through my hair RIGHT after I got home from the hairdresser to make my hair puff up a bit, especially at the roots.

I was on to something even before LHCF LOL

I love ALL the stages of the process. from week 1 smooth/sleek hair to week 11 or 12 curlies and thick new growth that makes me miss my 'fro.
Maybe that's b/c I was natural my whole life until age 22 (I'm almost 24 now)
:)

YES! Hate it, I always look bald with a huge face and people just look at me kind of weirdly. That's why I put my hair in an up-do when I leave the salon and wash it as soon as possible which in my case means when I'm not lazy.

I think my hair looks best after 4-6 weeks.

since i switched my relaxer to silk elements lye/reg i don't have this problem due to the fact that it only loosens/relax my curl pattern, it does not get my hair really straight... i'm unintentionally texlaxed... but i hated this when i used optimum no lye... that stuff got my hair bone straight... also i do a henna after relaxer and that helps too (for those of you who use henna)

Yeah it's crazy, I hate that bald headed feeling that I feel at the scalp. Is there anything I can do to alleviate that feeling? Or is it something that will fad out as the days go by?

I remember the feeling! The best thing I could recommend is to do a rollerset to give your hair some volume and a bit of curl, then wrap it. Depending on the length of your hair, you don't want the rollers to be too big or else that could defeat the purpose.

Hated it ... which is one of the many reasons why I'm natural now. Whenever I would wash my hair right after a fresh relaxer, I could easily feel the water on my scalp. That always irked me because I felt bald. :ohwell:

I dont like it. I dont even like the smell. That fresh relaxer smell.

I'd also run home and put my magnetic rollers in to get some volume.

I would tell my stylist not to bother wrapping it. Just take the rollers out, fluff and let me go home like that cause it was going to go limp anyway.

Looks better after the first wash.

I was just thinking that RIGHT NOW!!!

I am 1 week post and decided to rollerset and flat iron for a length check. I hate that my hair is soo thin! And what really makes me upset is that my crown is underprocessed and I see alotta scalp and parts from the rollerset because its bone straight hair sitting on a couple of lines of a mini fro. It looks like I got a bad row of weave up there! Since its also raining today, I just put on a hat and braided my hair to the side

I hate my freshly relaxed hair. My hair looks so limp and anoxeric that I usually can't wait till when I have to wash it again just to get some volume back.

You know what's funny, that freshly relaxed look was the only thing I truly liked about being relaxed (that and being able to wet wrap my hair so that it would dry straight). I had a dream last night that I relaxed my hair with Supreme and my hair had that look. But after the novelty wore off, I immediately regretted it and decided to transition.

Yeah those few days post relaxer isn't really the best. I need to wait at least 2/3 weeks before I start getting some form of body back. I find if I rollerset and wrap I get a modicum of volume. So this is my modus operandi for the first few weeks post.

My hair is never limp after a touchup...for two reasons:

1) I'm texlaxed so my hair still has lots of texture afterwards.
2) The "protein step" (after rinsing relaxer out but before neutralizing) adds further thickness to my hair.

In fact, my siggy pic is right after a touchup.

i didn't like it when i was relaxed at all. :nono: i would recommend putting in some sating rollers or large flexirods to give the hair some body.

I used to HATE it. It was so flat, limp and lifeless. You can do a roller-set or use flexi rods like others have suggested, or you can do what I did and enjoy sleek buns and ponytails for a week or until your next wash.

When I was relaxed I hated the fresh relaxed look.
I felt like my hair was thinning.

I would end up shampooing 2 days later to try and thicken things up

This is one of the things I don't miss about relaxing. Today you can put it in a dry rollerset to give your hair more body. In a fews days, maybe a week, wash your hair.

I hate it too. Every time without fail I end up panicking & thinking I'm going bald... until the new growth kicks in. :look:
