It depends. If the topic of hair comes up, then I'll vaguely mention one or two things. If they seem genuinely interested in what I said (which hardly EVER happens) I'll elaborate and give tips

I have been sharing with my sisters and due to how healthy my hair is, they are listening. I gave one of my sisters a lot of products and she is now asking me hair questions. The proof is in the hair:lachen:.

A couple of friends I do share.

Told one friend about baggying and she loved it. Said it stopped her hair shedding and her wasn't dry anymore. Told my girls about baggying their phony ponies and they love that too. I pass on tips about vitamins and some listen, some don't.

Others don't buy it...so I just hush. When my hair is healthy and thick and hopefully long, then they will want to know.

But I will only help those who ask...

ARR

I lead by example....folks don't LISTEN; you have to SHOW & prove.
If someone asks and seems genuinley interested maybe i'll tell them.

The bolded is true. I'm hesitant to give advice because my hair doesn't look up to par right now. I know what it needs to get it back on track and when it's healthy again people will be more willing to take my advice.

Plus my friends aren't into hair care like I am anyway. one friend is too ignorant about hair anyway. she only believes in the good hair bad hair thing. One of my friends saw me using s curl and got on me HARD about it. and said one of friend's didn't like braiding my hair anymore because she didn't like the way the scurl felt. I told her how soft it made my hair she still felt I was an idiot for using it.:ohwell:

In the future I will only tell people who really have an interest in hair. Right now I keep my regimen and products a secret.

My friends thought me and my sister were B.S-ing but they're now starting to see results so we're the go to hair ladies lol. If they really want or need help, they'll come to me.

Nope, I sent an email explaining my cowashing habits and my girls we like you are crazy and dont mention the MN "coochie" cream for your hair no way..my response..if I find that ox sh** will grow my hair I am going to be on it....LOL :lachen:Maybe...

LOL :lachen: My hair used to look so bad that my friends and teachers called me "tackhead" so my friends don't feel I'm in the "position" to know ANYTHING about hair so...I act hair dumb and let them tell me all their tips that I found out DON'T WORK (One friend told me that I should flat iron my hair everyday and only wash every 3 weeks) and I pretend like I'm taking it all in when I'm really hearing, ":blah::blah::blah:"

I do! They look at me sideways at times but secretly telling their stylist not to cut, and all of a sudden wearing protective styles and let it slip that they 'baggy ends' and pre-poo:look:. I know they listen to me  even if it goes against what we ALL thought we knew or thought we should do.

Its funny that this topic has been brought up. Today I had a discussion with one of my clients and she was telling how much her hair has grown since wearing her hair systems. I started to tell her about the MN technique, but I second guessed it and kept it to myself.

Gosh, is she my client, I probably should have let her in on our secret :ohwell:

i don't volunteer unless they ask. i don't tell them about the hair board unless they are really desperate and open to being here.

i tried just offering help only to get the  face and told that the stuff i do works for me because i got "good hair" and because "i am mixed"

none of those statements are true.

I get that response too, so no more.Perhaps if I come across someone who really seems interested

Some I do some I don't. Even the ones that knew what my hair looked like before don't believe me when I tell them what made the difference.

i'll only say something
if the topic of hair comes up.

like last night
my mother was complaining that her hair wasnt growing

and i was simply telling her that it's growing
she just has to focus on retaining the length that she already has.
rather than thinking that no more hair is coming out of her scalp.

I do until I see their eyes glossing over and looking bored. It's like they're exspecting a quick one product answer or something.

So I just fade out and change the subject. 'Cause if you really didn't want to know why'd you ask?

This has happend 3 times so far. It's weird.

haha :lachen:

Oh yes, good point! The only time I say something to my mom is when my youngest sister is involved. My mom's mismanagement had that girl's edges tore up, so I got involved and have taken over her hair care.
I know what you mean!My nieces edges look:look:.I put a hair basket together for her so maybe that will motivate SIL to put more effort into her hair.

I agree with the other poster. When my hair was short(and healthy) nobody would ask me for hair tips. Even though my hair looked healthy, whenever I stumbled upon something great and shared teh info...ppl just brushed me off. Now, for the last few years, my hair has been long (brastrap and longer), ppl cling to my every word when it comes to hair. So, I tell ppl everything...Well,m maybe not everything because some ppl will think i am crazy. Before when i use to take vitamins (PP), I aways told me ppl i was on vitamins, but nver how many because i am sure they would think this board was a cult. i use to take 3 hair vitamins, 2 biotions, 3 msms, and 2 vitamin C daily. My fiance saw me one day taking the pills and he thought i completely lost my mind. He wasnt complaining when all his friends and coworkers was sweating my hair though. So, i tell ppl that i take vitamins, just never teh amount....unless they are really serious and I am convinced that they are serious.

I have one friend who is with me on the "change" type of thing.

Today I took her out shopping to the BSS and we got all the basics for a regimen:grin:

but she is the only person I would do that for because I don't feel I am wasting time

When I started my hair journey, yes I did, but of late I have since ceased doing so. I hate to admit it but I'm a little selfish for now with my hair regimen except with you ladies - my hair buddies on this forum. I sometimes help my little sister though. She is absolutely clueless when it comes to caring for her hair and to make matters worse, she put a color in it. Now I can't help her anymore because I don't color my own hair and I have no clue how to care for bleached hair, so off to the professional stylist she goes for that.

I share tips when I can, but I'm kinda leary about talking about stuff like that now. It seems like a waste of breathe b/c when I've done it in the past, they either ignore me or think I'm nuts, so I've just learned to leave it alone and only share stuff when I think it's appropriate. I'll give them tips/advice when they ask. But I certainly don't volunteer it anymore.

lol Ditto on this. Even though it's only been a month my hair looks a thousand times more healthy....my friends just think i changed stylists lol ESPECIALLY cuz I couldn't roll my hair to save my life 2 months ago!

I don't have a problem sharing but me and most of my friends just don't talk about hair all that much. I only talk to one of my friends (who by the way isn't black) about hair and she's got MBL hair. She had a problem with massive shedding and breakage so I was just telling her what she could do to curb it. She's the one that always makes comments about how my hair is growing so she brings the subject of hair up.

I picked the Rapunzel one because I don't have any friends that are even interested. They just think I'm crazy and tell me I don't need all that hair stuff. I still throw a tip or product fav into the convo sometimes but I don't know if they listen or not.

If a person is sincerely interested then yes, I will give them some of the tips that I use.

If they're just looking for a "get hair long" scheme, then NO.

I share errything with everybody - friends, strangers, random people online.... :lachen: I love talking about hair!

I do share with my friends and family... even though they look @ me like i've lost my mind. They tell me that my hair will fall out :lachen:. My roommate (who is Caribbean/Asian/White) will listen to me though.

One girl followed my co-wash regime. She had a 4b TWA and wanted her hair like mine. I forewarned her that my hair is natural, but different in a way.... I guess she thought her's would come out like mine. :ohwell:

Anywho, she apparently did it because she came back to me PISSED OFF like she was going to fight me or something... She snatched off her hat and was like "LOOK AT THIS!!!"

I guess I learned that you can't share your regime with everyone...
