I shampoo when it feels necessary. If I'm starting fresh and want to poo and condition I use Aloe Rid or Suave Clarifying (only cuz I know I'm putting moisture right back in)...otherwise its Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo! So creamy! Don't even need conditioner afterwards.
How many of y'all use shampoo and how often?I use shampoo at least once a week.
What kind of shampoo do you use and what is your hair type? Are you relaxed or natural?Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo and Skala Ceramides G3 Shampoo. My hair is relaxed.
I have to use shampoo at least once a week. I get oily buildup on my scalp that only shampoo will remove. As long as I use a moisturizing poo, I'm good.
I poo wash every 2 weeks with african black soap or suave humectant
I co-wash in between as needed
at first I used to feel like my scalp wasnt clean from cowashing - when I wud use a thick conditioner, but using suave coconut or VO5 (which are thinner but still moisturizing) I feel clean ... pluss I always do a scalp scratch test even when poo washing
i hate shampoooo!!!!!!!! i even hate when i have to use a nuetalizer when i relax. shampoo tangles my hair and i feel like all my moisture is gone. i simply just rinse hair
How many of yall use shampoo and how often? (CONDITIONER WASHES DO NOT COUNT)
I do. I shampoo my hair once a week.
What kind of shampoo do you use and what is your hair type? Are you relaxed or natural?
When I'm not clarifying with V05 Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo or chelating with Kenra (no more than twice a month), I use the Juicy Shampoo Bar from Karen's Body Beautiful. I am a 4a/4b natural.
I have not used shampoo since I got my hair dyed two weeks ago, and my hair has felt the best ever! I wanna know your thoughts, I may have to kick the Poo to the curb!!
Kicking poo to the curb is not an option for me because I have fine strands. I'd have too much product build-up if I deleted shampoo from my life.
I shampoo twice a week (sometimes even 3 or 4) but I'm newly natural type 4 and still feeling out different things. I use Dr Bronner's sweet almond so it's SLS free. I just feel like the gels and such that I use now need to be shampoed out.
I'm going to try going cone free and cowash for two weeks to see what happens.
ETA I also clarify about once every 3 or so weeks with Suave almond and shea.
My hair doesn't feel dry.
I have 4b relaxed hair and I shampoo my hair once a week, every week. I use Pureology Hydrate Shampoo, it is sulfate free. My hair doesn't feel dry afterwards but I do also deep condition with a mouisturizing condition after every wash.
I'm a natural 4b and I shampoo at least once a week (more if I sweated a lot exercising or get rained on). It is absolutely imperative my shampoo be ALS based and my favorite shampoos at the moment are Herbal Essence LTR and HH
I know I'm in the minority of most of the ladies on LHCF, but I need to shampoo my scalp every 3- 7 days. I tried the conditioner only method and my scalp wasn't as healthy. My hair remained moisturized, thickened up, and I retained length, but I started getting little irritated sores on my scalp, probably from buildup. And that clarify once a month with shampoo thing doesn't work for me either...
When I went back to regular sudsing (i do use a shampoo meant for dry/damaged hair and usually add a bit of castor oil to the bottle), I noticed a dramatic difference. Scalp healed, hair grew faster, my scalp breathed a sigh of relief and said, "THANK YOU."
And my hair never feels stripped, even with shampooing as often as I do. I try to keep the moisture/ protein balance in check, moisturize regularly, and I always deep condition after a poo. I love a good co- wash just like the next LHCFer, but I need my shampoo!
I bought a couple of packets of hair one samples from Sally today to try, but I can't give up my poo! Just goes to show every head is different
Long live the poo!
I'm mostly 4a natural. No co-washes for me. My scalp can't handle it. I shampoo once a week with Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Restorative shampoo. Very gentle, nice lather, and doesn't leave me stripped, and my scalp is clean and residue free. Before I discovered this poo, I was using Ayurvedic powders (which I still use occasionally).
I use maxiglides moisturizing shampoo, I dilute it in water inside a dye applicator bottle (only use about a table spoon )and I only wash my scalp. I wash my scalp every day or every 3 days. My hair seems to love it, I don't use much product besides infusim and gel about once a week. I've also noticed that when I used shampoo with out diluting it, it ruined the shape of my curls, and made my hair dry.
yup, twice a month, and I'm natural 4a/b, but thats when I'm out of weave. When I'm in weave, I wash once a week with Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo. I like that it tingles. When I'm out of weave, I'll try something new.
I tried doing the no poo thing, my hair felt great, but I felt my scalp had too much buildup, especially since I keep a lot of moisturizer in my hair
I'm relaxed and I shampoo weekly with Loreal Ever Pure Sulfate free shampoo. When I'm done with this tube I think I want to try TIGI BedHead Superstar sulfate free shampoo for thick massive hair.
How many of yall use shampoo and how often? (CONDITIONER WASHES DO NOT COUNT)
I shampoo wash at least 1 x per week.
What kind of shampoo do you use and what is your hair type? Are you relaxed or natural?
I always do my first wash with PM Tea Tree Shampoo and/or KC Dry Itchy Scalp. After my first lather, I wash with Miss Jessie's Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo . I'm 4b texlaxed.
Transitioning, 4b here and yes I shampoo. Ihad stopped for a while but started having breakage secondary to product buildup so I back on shampoo. I clarify once a month or so with Giovanni TTT and shampoo weekly with moisture shampoo, either aveda dry remedy or alterna (its just want I have lying around at the moment).
I shampoo twice weekly, and I am 4a relaxed.
KeraCare Hydrating Sulfate-free shampoo is my new favorite.
If I don't shampoo, my scalp will start to smell, so shampooing is a must for me.
I use different things to wash depending on what products I used in my hair the week before. I mostly use ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo, but if I haven't used any cones I might use African black soap, Cream of Nature, Hesh Nikar (Indian) shampoo bar, shikakai shampoo bar, Indian powder mix, Suave Humectant, or Pine Tar shampoo (rarely/harsh). Tonite I used Nexxus Humectress. I still have other shampoos from pre-LHCF days that I will eventually use up, but the ones listed are what I use most.
Since Kimmaytube's video, I will not be using Dr. Bronner's Castile soap on my hair anymore, nor baking soda, I will probably use ACV periodically, but no more than a capful per 32 oz. of water.
I didn't vote because I don't really fit in any of the categories.
I'm a 4A natural that washes with watered-down Suave shampoo (1/3 shampoo) weekly. I used to be a no-pooer and my hair thrived, but I ended up washing once a month on average. Because of the products I used in my hair, I had to.
But if you use more natural products (no cones, parabens, etc.) and less of them, no-pooing may work for you.
