Do you really believe this?? SLEEP for Hair Growth

I heard your hair grows its fastest when youre sleeping or in some way stimulating your scalp (more blood to your scalp). but idk

Jeez the video is kind of exaggerating.

Sleep is good for your hair! Because rest gives your body more energy and helps it work more efficiently, which helps with growth I guess. Though too much sleep is bad for you and makes you lazy and gain weight. :drunk:

I dont believe it. Last year I was depressed after moving from DC to Atlanta for Grad school... I slept an average of 10-12 hrs a day and my hair grew the same 1/4 a month, and I was taking vitamins, and eating Healthy.. I didnt gain any weight stayed the same and soo did my hair

I didn't watch the video but, sleep is part of keeping up your overall health. So if you always sleep 4 hours a night, then you might see a change in the way your body works if you start sleeping 8 hours a night, but if you always got enough sleep then it won't matter. It's like taking vitamins/exercising/eating healthy. If you're not doing any of that stuff, then yeah you might see a change. If you already are, then you won't see much of a difference.

Speaking as a sleep specialist, lack of and erratic sleep patterns do cause hair loss. Would I go so far as to then say therefore the opposite is true? No. Sleep is described at best as a resting phase for the body. Everybody does not need the same amount to function. Growth does take place during this resting state but does it stop because you are awake? No. It varies from person to person. Don't go to sleep trying to grow hair, too much sleep is a problem within itself.

Sleeping a mininum of 8 hrs per day is healthy for the hair.

.....And diabetes, heart problems, fibromyalgia and over 120 other sleep related disorders. However, show up at your practioners complaining of hair loss and the last place you will end up is my office. All I am trying to say is it is unlikely you will see such a difference. If so, it will primarily be because some other disorder was helped as a result of better sleep.
