For those who voted "body," how do men compliment your body. Like, I'm trying to get a sense of how they say it and how they can get away with it in a respectful way.

I can imagine a body like Michelle Obama's being complimented - but if you're more voluptuous than muscular how does the compliment come across?

I think I'm mid-way between "muscular and voluptuous" as you put it. With men, it's definitely more likely to be crass (homeless man yelling "nice tits" at me in the subway - that goes for you) but sometimes it's respectful. I get a lot of admiration for my shoulders and arms. One guy asked me to be his personal trainer so he could get "buff" like me.

lol...that's what I was afraid of. :lachen::lachen::lachen:

I don't have much of a shape but any time someone comments on the stuff I do have, it's just feels so offensive. There's no nice way to say "nice tits/donk" :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Arms and fitness seem to be safe ways to compliment someone's body though.

I also think smile, personality, eyes and legs are pretty safe (flirty) ways to compliment someone. If someone complimented my lips, I think I might get in my feelings about that too. Maybe I'm too sensitive. :look:

skin
but i feel like people give me the evil eye or jinx me every time they compliment my skin because i always get a a pimple right after they do it

on a forum with colored ladies, im surprised there is not more skin comments
we supposedly have the best skin

I am also offended by "body" compliments, but to me those are not compliments and they are usually from men who i believe are saying it just because they are pigs:ohwell:

For me it depends on the setting. In a club/bar - I know why you're saying what you're saying and true or not I'm not interested.

but more off-hand stuff during a calm conversation like "you have a nice shape." or "no, I think if that were bigger it wouldn't look right. I think it looks good now." kind of things don't offend me. That's usually the context in which other women will compliment my body too. Like I was trying on shoes, and I rolled my jeans up so I could see the bottom of my calf and my ankle, and this older woman was walking by and she said "My, you have beautiful ankles." I was like :perplexed such a random body part to compliment, but I know she wasn't trying to get at me or anything. :lachen:

I get alot of hair compliments from men and women. Other comments are not usually generalized....just a regular "your pretty" or whatever.

Well... I've been told these things in nice ways. Mostly by gay guys though  but also by straight guys. I've got some interesting stories, let's just say that. ;)

Mostly, I get complimented on being "tall and pretty." I dunno what that means exactly. :look: My smile is probably number one though. Hair is a close second.

I voted other...I get compliments on my style. I love accessories and coordinating with my outfit. I always get 3 snaps for my makeup too. I just love to play dress up!

It' usually my smile, but my friend who' natural got the most awkward "compliment" when we went out the other night. This guy comes up and says,"you don't like perms, huh?" She asks what he meant and he says, "I like your roots."

Personality first.

It used to be "facial features" first. :giggle:

That's a good thing, tho.

ETA - welcome KinkyRed Newbie. And Angel Eyez, your pics look really good!
